Incompatable tankmates that will never work. But do anyway (?).

That's funny. I 've also kept larger fancies and comet goldfish with mellower larger cichlids, catfish, arrowanas and assorted oddballs. Although I've heard that if they don't have colder 'hibernation' periods the goldfish don't live as long as they normally would. In my younger years I also kept a koi with my tropicals in a 110 until it outgrew the tank after a few months. I tried to acclimate him into a friend's goldfish pond, but sadly he didn't survive the week. I think it was too late in the year. Anybody who might think goldfish/koi aren't predatory or cannibalistic never saw this mirror scale sucking down small feeder comets. it was kinda a weird sight, actually (the feeders obviously weren't for him but he apparently didn't realize that).

I had my electric catfish in a 55g with a large red hook silver dollar. Untill I had to move the red hook into a 125. Hommer (electric catfish) never gave Flash (red hook) any issues. How ever he has killed a flowerhorn and 2 plecos.

My old boss at the LFS had a saying, "There's no such thing as can't". He's had seen some crazy things. Cichlids and bettas, goldfish and oscars, the list goes on and on. When I worked there I never told people they couldn't put certain fish together, however I would tell them that they would be lucky if one didn't kill/hurt/stress the other.

A guy I know has a ridiculously overstocked 150G tank that seems to work just fine. He has 14 RB Piranhas (between 4''-6''), 2 male flowerhorns (both around 6''), 2 oscars (4'') and one african knifefish (8''). The knifefish, oscars and flowerhorns were purchased as feeders, but the whole tank just ended up working.

My big 8" male Heros sp. 'Rotkeil' and my 9" female Crenicihla Saxatilis sp. aff. 'Demerara'. They were unseperable.. I really miss the pike. :( They were in with 2" geos growing out for another tank and never touched them.

well right now, i have, 2 oscars with 4 black skirts 5 or so platys 2 swordtails and 10 or more feeder guppys they havnt ate yet....... and a pair of cons with frys on the other side of the divider.
