However much you are tempted to, don't overdo it. An hour a day is great. Too much, and the fish will get too stressed and its hump may well SHRINK !

ok so,,,, i l try for abt an hour a day n lemme chk

nywy thanx for that info......

I have never use mirror, not even for kamfah or water head ZZ, for my fish and the hump is there. Using mirror is a very old trick, but IMO, a waste of money and time!

If you have a quality fish, your best bet is to have plenty of room for him to swim, clean water and good food. Have some gravel for him to play with and went he is content, the hump will grow.

There is another trick that people use to get the hump to grow and It seems plausible, bu very mean so I don't do it or recommend it.

oh.....so u r meaning that, it is the environment and the place where they live that bring them,,, the hump, gr8.....
but i dont believe that, it is only these factors that make them grow their humps to massive extents....... there would be some enhancers being used for this surely........

Believe it or not, it's up to you. Buy a low quality fh and use the mirror or buy those expensive hump enhancer and see if the fish will grows a bid hump.

give me a water head fh and I can get the hump up without using the mirror hump enhancer food. I can just feed him koi food and you will not know the difference.

Not really...gene is the #1 factor here. Water quality, temperature, and aggression will play a big role here with how your flowerhorn will grow. As far as food goes, food doesn't play that big of a factor here IMO. The only key to food is variety...

Just get a good specimen, keep the water pristine, with some good food and mirror time and you'll have a stunner. Good luck with yours!

BIG ONE,,
actually wot is this hump made of ????
is it just fat cells or r there muscles inside ????? sure theres no bone/////////

well actually that the head in FH is by chance (depends on the gene), some people bought thousands of fish but none of them get the big head, but some people only bought one and they have the lucky fish. Also, i don't really see the mirror help much, give him a good diet and let him see the female more often will help a lot. you can use a glass to make your tank into 2 parts, and put the female into the tank about an hour every day, you will see the fish go crazy when he see girls.

The purpose of the mirror is to make the fish more aggressive to bring out the hump.

My point is if you have a quality fish, meaning fish with a water hump or gene for a good hump, you do not need the mirror. To me its just more consumption of time and money. To bring the hump out, you just need Plenty of swimming space, really clean water and good food with some gravel for him to move around and once he is comfortable, his hump will come out. I have done that to all my fish even to kamfah. Kamfah are the hardest to bring the hump out too.
As far as food goes, I feel that those expensive food that claim to increase hump are a waste of money. About seven years ago, I did some test on some of my fh that I know are water head. I tested 3 fish. The fish were fed with hump enhancer, I will not name, koi food, and the third fish, I fed a quality pellet. Each fish were fed only one single food for 1 month and the food with the hump enhancer did not show any difference then before the test.

Alot of time I see a low quality fish and the owner wants to get the hump big with mirrors and hump enhancer food. Why waste money on expensive food and time. Just spend a little more money on a nice fish and spend the time to give it a good home and care and it will pay off.
