Dr Joe

.
Thanks, i just sent them an email so the answer should be coming soon.

I was thinking making one of the end sides into an overflow, that goes into like a 1' wide sump. I will show you pictures of what i mean... I do not know if i will do it this way tho. Or i could just do something like this. I really would not want to take away from the 8ft of tank space, so i would somehow have to attach it. Ill sleep on it.

way not just build the sump into the side ?

you will only loose a couple of inches . at most a foot .

Thats what i was thinking, with the sump built on i ave to use more paint, more silicon and more screws. Plus the

However i could do a huge 1 1/2 foot sump complete with filter socks, bio tower(s) and a plant refugium.

I was thinking to build the sump so its connected to the tank and the overflow would be a couple of 90' elbows just going straight down into a drip plate that spills into some filter socks. Like Justlooking's sump, only made so that the filter socks are going the long way and the drip plate/bio tower is also going the long way. Ill draw up a picture on pain.

Ok here it is, i stopped with the first sump because i did not know how to draw it all... The second picture is a side view or the long way.

I have a Quiet one 3000 that will do around 700 gph at that head, so i think i should be set for filtration. I know its not alot of gph, but the sump will be really effective.

The first thing you would do is prepare the substrate. Meaning remove any loose crumbly substrate, make sure the substrate is clean, dry, free of any previous applied products, and foreign matter.

  • Prime the plywood with 1 coat of PermaFlex (240 sq ft per gal).
Prime the sealing surfaces of the glass using the Epoxy Primer.
Once the Epoxy Primer has become tack-free, apply 1 coat of PermaFlex over the Epoxy Primer.

  • Patch and profile any joints, seams, cracks, holes and rough areas using LRB/TAV mixture (Liquid Rubber Base, Thickening Activator).

  • Apply LRB (Liquid Rubber Base) or LRB/TAV mixture over the entire surface to create a permanent, impervious, waterproof membrane. Our life time warranted membrane is applied @ 80 sq’ per gal (20 mil thick). At this point the substrate is 100% waterproof.
·If possible, apply the LRB to horizontal surfaces and once cured flip the aquarium to apply the LRB membrane to another horizontal surface.
·If the above option is not applicable, LRB can be mixed with TAV to create a thickened mixture which can be applied at any thickness whether vertical or inverted. Less TAV can be used to create a mixture of any viscosity.

  • Topcoat the surface with 1 coat of PermaFlex (240 sq’ per gal). If Metal Halide, VHO or any other extremely intense lighting will be used apply 1 coat of a good 2-part epoxy or any extremely UV resistant paint.

EDIT:

I found it, now i just need to find the products on there website. Can someone better explain the last quote? I think they are saying after sealing the whole tank with LRB, do a top coat with permaflex?
