Because people absolutely need to eat that sushi and that veal :D.

People are destructive by nature, if they like something they don't care who or what it harms.

You could live your whole life not harming any animals, just become a vegan, but for every steak you don't eat, I'm going to eat 2 ;).

Yes this is stupid, but its none different then anything else, and you can't justify killing animals by saying "we need the steak", you can only justify it by saying "we WANT the steak". Actually i don't see using the fish as anywhere near as harmful as what real sushi restaurants do, or like lobster/crab boiling and cows and pigs aren't kept in any better condition, but of course most city people think they all live in huge grass pastures where they are free to frolic and run around as they please. NOT.

:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

I'm going to go ahead and eat my tortured baby cow meat and my freshly killed fried chicken now.

I NEED SUSHI!!! :D

Again...I agree to a certain extent. Cows, chicken, some fish, pigs, etc are raised to be consumed. These fish aren't raised to eat away at people's feet.

And there are even crazier people out there that won't eat vegetables and fruits unless it falls off the tree. Because they say that plucking fruit from trees hurt them :screwy:

This craze originated somewhere in Asia minor (I think) where people go to a natural hot pool to be cleaned by the fish that naturally live there. The fish benefit from the extra food (there isn't much in the hot pools) and the people get their loose skin and psoriasis sores eaten away. Not real sure how this translates into the world of beauty spas but my guess is that these spas not knowing how to keep fish is the real reason they die. The fish from the wild live in hot water naturally but 94 seems more than a little bit high to me. I graciously offer my services as a master aquarium keeper (45 years experience) to these spas to keep their fish alive and healthy, 50 grand a year should get my attention. I happen to know a lake where blue gills do the same thing to moles and dark hairs, not very relaxing but it gets your attention!

If you think killing hundred of fishes by over cooking them is cruel...

Please take a look at the big picture around the world...

How about the slaughter house for chicken, cow, pig and etc etc. How about million of fishes that were pull out of water each day?

or

How about people that cut up fish for sushi, or how about people that dump live fish, shrimps and crabs into a hot pot and later to be consume (its taste good)!!!

We are evil to the world... Million of life get executed each day and we cosume it...

AND

thats not cruel? ;)

AND

Welcome to the dark side! :D

so

its like nothing if compare to this incident......

Agree not to mention the amount of fish that die every year in the pet trade either in hobbiest's hands, or in shipping. Or the amount of goldfish that get sold for feeders. To be so against this is rather hipocritical if you keep fish and are even close to realistic.

You obviously stumpled on to some Peta like ad on craigslist that is no where near realistic. While they're at it they might as well call every fish store in the U.S. and tell them selling feeders is wrong. Because most will meet a far worse demise then eating dead skin off of feet.

i would see nothing wrong with using the fish for this cause if they were not kept in 94 degree water and used as though they were disposable. as if they are one-use.......

the only problem is that they aren't provided with the proper conditions. chances are, the employees had no idea how to keep them, and the company thta sold them to them didn't bother to tell them, just wanted the money.

they have several natural springs where people go to have the fish remove dead skin [many people who suffer from syrisis [spelling?]]. That isn't cruel, but the manner in which the fish are treated is the problem.

And for the people who say that animal are raised as food so it's different are hypocritical. Don't we all have fish here that at one point originated from the wild, or own fish that you've caught? Fish weren't meant to be kept in tanks either, so I guess we're all pretty bad lol.

did you ever catch bugs and keep them in a jar when they were young, and they died? it's easy to say how terrible it is without examining ourselves.

but I am not saying that the treatment of them is right by any means.

I have some questions:

What kind of fish is the salon using?

Are there pictures to back this story up?

It's obvious that (if this is a true story) the salon owner is trying to imitate the Asian natural hot spring spas that use fish. However, it's my understanding that the fish used are native to just those hot springs and can live in very warm water. Maybe this whole thing can be cleared up with a little education. If the right fish are used, and kept in proper conditions in the spa, then maybe this whole thing could work out, for the benefit of both fish and people willing to supply/pay for this weird "beauty" treatment.

One thing I do know, as a fish keeper I do NOT want to align myself with PETA. If PETA had their way NONE of us would be keeping fish.

:iagree: totally true

lol i believe the story, but fox news isn't exactly the most credible source. they're always fishing for some random absurd story to tell [haha, fishing for a story, that was totally not even on purpose]
