I thought about sturgeon, but I cant find any for sale. I would prefer a shovlenose sturgeon, but I'll take a sterlet if I can find one. Also thinking about bowfin.
That would be great, I just dont have fish that big around here. The biggest fish I ever caught in my pond was 5 pounds. I have never caught a fish anywhere close to that size ever again in that pond. Maybe something that doesnt eat as much. I'm trying to make my parents happy at the same time, and my mom likes the less aggresive fish.
I plan on having a school of central longears, maybe a school of perch, a sturgeon, some koi, and something else really cool. Would the perch be ok with the longears?
Not aggressive eh? Spawning sunfish are, but I'm sure that wouldn't matter. Is this an outdoor pond? How do you plan to keep it crystal clear? You could put some cattails in there, they REALLY suck up every particle in the water. But they grow like mad, lots of trimming to do with them.
With a huge bog filter, with cattails, yellow iris, and some other bog plants. And a few barrel filters. Its outdoors, I already have a bunch of cattails growing in the small pond.
A channel cat? When fed properly they don't eat many live fish. It could clean up any deaths in your pond. Also you could tame it, my brother has a small pond with a 2ft+ channel cat in there, it eats right out of his hands.
