thanks for your help, he has always seemed fine, I haven't used feeders, staples have been silver sides and massivore, ive used crickets... he wont eat prawn or anything else I can think off, may have had an odd piece of cooked chicken but never regularly or in any large amounts....
I will try a calcium rich diet maybe, he has grown really fast maybe the massivore has overloaded his system or something, I dunno....

It could be possibly that he grew too quickly leading to some sorta issue , unfortunately these things are hard to know .
I will ad that recently (over the last year) started using massivore on many of my pred tanks. I heard good things about it so I bought a big bag of the stuff tried it out . Fish like it and but it seems to fatten them up really fast. I've also lost several fish of various species for unknown reasons which started about 6 months after I started using massivore . Some were young in grow out, others were big long term captives that I've owned for 5-6 years .
Only common factor was massivore In their diet . I think the stuff is just pumped full of garbage empty calories. Seems great if you want a fish to fatten up and grow fast but not good for long term health. I stayed away from pellet based diets for years for that very reason but finally gave them a try to help cut back my food costs and I feel I paid dearly for it . I'm now I'm using what's left very sparingly but it's almost empty now and I'll never buy it again. I'm going back to using a mix of fresh seafoods and insects .
Sad to hear mate, my fish grew from 4 to 10 inch in 11 months which for a dwarf species does seem too fast imo, the other fish im calling female is from the same place and was the same size but feeds on mealworms only and is about 6-7 inch....
Maybe it is the massivore, lfs was feeding carni sticks too, basically the same stuff...
