irresponsible pet owners

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hey you did a great thing and its terrible those people dumped that on you but you are a good person for taking them in =] People like that need to be taught a lesson and reported. They shouldnt own pets if they are just going to end up dumping them. Stupid people.

Yah we sorta got my dog like that. My dog was a Maltese(sp) used for breeding and was abused.. eventually he got a new home with kids who...yes abused him. The second home the father got sick of his kids abusing the dog so he took the dog to his work. Well my dad at the time owned his own business in the same complex and they guy just let the dog walk around outside his office. My dad walked over and asked why he was letting the dog wander around and he said I am waiting to see if anyone will take him becuase my kids abuse him and he needs to go so my dad just talked to the guy (which why I know about his first home) and they thanked the guy for the dog and took him and brought him home and now he has a great home and is in healthy condition!

Well speak of the devil.... bad pet owners strike again!!! I am in my room fixing a drawing and as I did early.. I hear whimpering... sounds like an animal crying. Well I finally kept hearing and told my mom so we walk out in a pretty bad lighitning storm as its rolling in to find my neghibors not hom and their INSIDE dog in which someone was at the house not that long ago.. left the dog outside in the storm with NO SHELTER and its crying at the door and no one to let it in. We cant do anything b/c it is their property >__< (i peeked over the fence). I feel so bad for the dog b/c its scared to death and its lighting really bad and the only palce it can sit is on the cement in front of the door and there isnt much of an overhang. Stupid people... why would you leave it outside esp. if its an inside dog with it looking overcast like a storm was coming all day.

did you check to see if the doors are unlocked? or can you bring it to your house and leave a note for them....

I thought about that but there is a fence. The doors were locked we tried that. I was going to pick it up and take it over but they could prosecute me if they wanted to (they are not friendly neghibors). Anyways the ended up coming back 15min later and let the dog back inside. I dunno if they forgot they let it out or didnt think it was going to storm or what but that's the first time I ve seen them do something stupid with the dog, I am just glad they came back home to let the dog in.

I suppose i should be flattered in a wierd way, taken advantage of but also trusted to do the right thing
unfortunately i can't keep them it's not fair to the cats who have been living here
They were accepting of a kitten but 2 adult cats are a whole different ball game
i'll just make sure they go to a safe place

i cannot understand the heartlessness of some but thank you so much for the big heart you have... and i hope someday your reward is paid two fold for your open arms..

I hate hate HATE cats! You tell them "Listen now, do NOT jump up there and break that thing." they hear "Jump up there and break that thing, NOW!"
But I still took care of the two that were dumped on me. As best I could anyway. Even gave them cuddles, and I'm a SOB.
Thank God they started to disappear for longer intervals until, after a year and a half, they stopped coming back. Guess they found a new home.
Now I'm stuck with all the cat stuff I bought, and a giant shop vac plugged with cat hair.
If I could offer food, a litter box and an occasional belly rub, when I hate cats, why can't people take care of their own responsibilities?
Nothing says more about a person than their actions.
Reminds me of a woman from work who took her dog to the pound. Because it was too much hassle to take care of. An animal that was a family member for 17yrs. Saying "Oh, she'll go to a good home." When only a week before we had talked about how 99% of pound animals get killed and incinerated.
Sure honey sure, people snap up 17yr old dogs. Your conscience is clean.
Then what does she do? Gets a new puppy.
One day she's telling me how her son doesn't listen or obey rules etc.
I said "Well, you are the kind of person that discards, murders and incinerates family members for convenience. Then replaces them with a new model that you won't care for either, just because you are lonely and your needs come first. I assume you treat all your family the same way. Why would he respect you as his mother?"
She doesn't talk to me anymore.

They are still freaked out, plus they smell all of my cats
Oh and the one in my ceiling is an un-neutered male guess how i can tell :(
it's actually funny I called my mom and told her it better not have ben my sister she was laughing and said she's not that smart.
I feel bad for the cats. but basically mine are my kids- I was worried when i brought home the kitten we recussitated (who apparently was still carrying ringworm oh joy) In that case the female thinks he's hers and the others think I had it (a little anthropomorphizing but more and more I realize how much more aware pets are than they get credit for)
this is a true story which is freaky
One lady had to go to a nursing home so her ancient dog was boarded at the facility i was working at until someone could figure out what to do with it
A technician decide to be nice and give the dog a bath.
The dog died during the bath Just heart attack I know this lady and she is not rough cruel, or irresponsible
The boss had to call the nursing home to inform the owner
He was on the phone and we heard
"HI this is Dr. X from XYZ animal hosp i need to talk to Mrs W
Oh... she did? what time? Oh .. really... never mind then thank you"
Turns out the dog died at the exact same time as the owner
It's like she said Ok c'mon time to go
And it's time for me to go to work
LOL incidents like that help me keep stuff in perspective
sometimes i think i need to become a vegetarian but I love cheesburgers

ah well

Luckily if I can get the two abandoned kitties somewhat socialized I
can get them into a no-kill shelter with a pretty nice habitat and then owe them a few spays or something
oh charming herbie just puked on my bed and the piles of bills I see
You are a true saint.alot of people would not go through that and just leave them to their fate.I bow to you.good people like you are hard to find.

No no saint by a long shot
But anyway
My kitten i had CHOSEN to bring home evidently still was carrying ringworm :nilly::nilly::nilly::nilly:
guess how i know:nilly::nilly::nilly:
so now the bathroom cats have to stay isolated (to protect them)
It's a kootie not a life threatening thing, but the humidity from fish doesn't help (localized fungal infection)
Plus I get to bathe 11 cats
catch them twice a day to put ointment on them:....

guess next week's unexpected bill will be having the ducts cleaned
luckily carpet downstairs is gone, basement carpet is coming up
upstairs carpet will be coming up and floor sanded down
and no cats allowed in the bedrooms (with all the down comforters)
probly should do the ducts after the floor though

Honestly the ONLY reason I can have so many pets is because of my career
It's what I chose and at 41 when i should be having my midlife crisis I find I chose the right thing

LOL I live alone but when I decided to bring the kitten (now a horrible teenager) home I was going to tell my friend that he had been there all along
that didn't work out
"when did you get a kitten?"
"kitten?what kitten?"
"the one eating my arm"
"oh that kitten"
"just what you needed another cat"
"look at him he's happy, he lived in a cage for 3 months it makes me happy to see him and he almost died"
"OK i guess if it makes you happy"

The funny thing is about the crazy cat lady thing,
As long as you don't let them multiply and all are cared for and you can have a semi normal life where's the harm?"

I did a rotation with the owner of a cat practice 10 years ago and she told me
know what
If I wind up the old lady with 50 cats crawling all over me good.
Long's you can keep up with the litter boxes

Now don't get me wrong
Lot's of times it becomes a sickness
my md told me about a lady who now lives in her car because cats have taken over her house

I really did want to get under 10 this year though

AAAGHH remember the old thing be careful what you ask for you might get it?
I remember saying i wanted naked cats (sphinx) but i didn't specify the breed:eek:

Thanks for letting me blab guys
Oh jeez I'll never get approved for shipping now i gotta get all the remodeling and crap done before an inspection

Hey Liz i remember in some of your posts you had horses
did you ever think about a pmu mare?
Since I've gotten older (and larger) my choice if i got horses again would be a draft cross (also they are so much calmer)
the stuff i did at 21 just isn't possible anymore
