My answer to your question is yes. As long as the filteration is good, it all good danny. Just ignore those others, you can do picture search on here and see 90% of them are in 150 gallon or less; and cram with bunch of other fishy. NOt many people can afford big tank like 200+ gall for just one fish....PLEASE!! It a free world, do as you please and afford.

This is just stupid logic, just cause some other idiot does it means it ok to do?:screwy:

With proper care a silver arowana will get well over 30" long. The least you can do is give is a tank that has a length 3x that of the aro's and a width at least equal to it's length. Two foot tank height is pretty much minimum.

If ya can't eventually afford the proper sized tank then don't be selfish and find a different fish to keep

what in the hell happened to my simple asked question.how did we get to all of this..all i asked was a simple yes or a no.man people just can't keep there thoughts to themselves.this is a legit website with grown ass women /gentlemen helping those who ask for it right?..cause to me i see alot of *****es *****ing issues their going through which i don't believe needs to be heard or known to us out here searching for simple answers and suggestions.
so let me know if i need the tank wider, longer or if the height is enough.be the pro's that we expect you to be.no offense to those who are REALLY helping.thanks to you.so get back on to the answers you all.
Not in the arowana forum, if you look through many of the other threads in this section, you'll notice that about 1/3 of the threads that have to do with silver aros end up turning into arguements.

In my early days of fishkeeping I had a 30" Silver in a 125 (6'x18" foot print), and man, what a horrible experience. Fish ended up battering itself to death due to nervousness. My next silver was in a 220, and was much more relaxed.

The 6" of extra width in a 180/220 makes a huge difference, the fish are much less skittish. I was in ArapaimaG's 15K recently, and you can reach down and pet the 40" silvers as they swim around your legs...space makes an enormous difference to the fish's calm and "mental health".

On the other hand, MFKer Flagtail had his Silvers lay eggs in a 180...so they're obviously well enough to breed, something very few others on here can say.

6x2 is "enough" to keep the fish without deformity, but larger would be recommended.

If you're going to make similes make them sensible or it just sounds stupid.

it's so funny when ignorant people look right past the analogy and think im saying one is exactly like the other. you obviously could never write or understand the meaning in a song or poem if everything is so black and white for you. when your making an analogy your not saying either is the smae as the other. your pointing out a similarity what i said had nothing to do with fishkeeping or rape i was pointing out that just becuase someone does one thing doesn't make it ok

and there was a typo on my original post i meant 8' x 30" not 6

I'm the ignorant one right? Have you ever heard of not comparing apples to oranges? Don't make stupid A-- analogies and people won't call you out. You weren't writing a poem or a song.

well close this thread cause more crap comments will be added here.got the answer already.bigger, longer is better.....end of question.CLOSE THE THREAD>THANK YOU!>..
