Here is a link to a True Vittatus at a small size.
It could be because your pics are a lil blurry or just my bad ID Lol... As of now I Vote for not Vittatus :D

I hate to say it, but I after looking at that photo I think I have a vittatus. I just went and looked at him haha. The issue is that he is soo skinny at this point. I need to fetten him up, and possibly better pics. The tail and body resemble the picture, but mainly the tail. Any pics of forskalii?

Could be as most juvi ATF are hard to ID aside from Goliath but look at "Shadowstryder" Vittatus n his has a different body build. Thicker (aside from eating), yellow tail That is also pointed at the tips n head shape. This one looks like the type All-Happy has brought in the last 2 imports. Forskoli, Tanz... whatever, just don't look like Vittatus to me :D

You might be right about it not being vittathus, but i'm sure its not forskahlii either.

heres a pic of juvi forskahlii.

If you look at the pictures of Goliath, it's quite distinguishable from Vittatus or other ATFs. The head shape and the snout is very noticeably different. If ever in doubt, don't buy. Many lfs take in their fishes as GATF because their supplier told them so, this has happened on numerous occasions, and many may not have a clue as to the difference.

In my opinion any Atf regardless is one hell of a pickup. Regret selling all my Forskahliis.

Very true. Wow Rukus after seeing both pics I am not sure which one it is... I just gotta fatten him up, and take pics again. I hope vittatus though.

Don't think you uploaded the fatf. All 3 pics are Vittatus on page 2

On this page, where did you get the fatf from n can you pin point the differences between fatf n VATF at that size? These look like the Big eye ATF Wes talks about (don't remember which species the big eye are)

Rukus how big were your forskalii before you sold them?

Like i said, if i was thinking at the time and taken the pics when there were together in the same tank, you can clearly see the difference. The fatf was 2x thinner then the vatf, tails are totally different as well. The tail on the Fatf was only red on the bottom as the vatf the red spreads out evenly from the middle top & bottom. Wes description of a forskahlii matches mine in every detail......Slender body, smaller head in comparison to the body, large eyes, tail biter. The dead give away is the body comparison with a vatf & a forkahlii but it's hard to see the difference unless you have both of them together.

10" tip 2 tip with the vatf when housed together.

Here we go, very poor quality of the Fatf but the pic was intentionally for the paima. As you can see the body difference between them, and as for the Fatf their color has a more darker blue shade, different from the vatf wit a greyish green shade.

Note: the fatf is on the very bottom really dark color.

Don't see the difference. Maybe only you can see it since they were infront of you but pics wise, they are the same species. Who did you sell them to so we can get better pics? I'm very interested to see better pics of details between the the 2 species.
PM me the buyers

As far as I know, VATF is also collected in Nigeria n is a red tail vittatus like the guy that was selling 8-10 10" red tail VATF in San Jose (I'll look for pics)
