You should have seen how skeptical I was when I first test drove my car and realized it had a push button ignition.

I'm a commercial driver. My wife and I were in a pretty bad crash because of some of this tech. A cab driver stopped suddenly in front of a truck in front of us. We were all accelerating from a work zone. The car stopping suddenly in front of the truck caused the collision avoidance system to shut the truck down. He was maxed out at 80k.
He stopped fast! He went from 30 to 0 before he could put his foot on the brake. There were no brake lights. Just stopped.Wife was injured pretty badly. If I hadn't reacted as fast as I did, we would've taken the full impact of the collision. We'd be dead. No doubt in my mind. I guess this just hits too close to home for me.

Exactly, X2. Their could be a reason you need to give it gas and the car wants to brake. A car/train coming at you sideways(full speed) and theres a car in front of you. Sorry car in front.
I will never buy a vehicle with that crap installed. Seems like a totally half-assed design. "Oh we cant figure out how to make this car more efficient so we'll just have it turn off for a minute"
It was 18 wheeler version of said tech. It also will shut off the cruise control if a passing car cuts back in too close. No warning, just disables the cruise. Other annoying things too. Sitting in traffic, it won't idle more than 3 minutes. Just shuts off the engine. There's a bypass switch that will buy you an extra 3 min if you catch it in time. Like I said, annoying.
And also how does this affect the a/c? ...normally car's a/c lose their 'coolness' when off.
