Soo... MY RTG just lost a couple of scales tonight when I got home from work. Apparently he jumped again earlier tonight banging the glass top a few times. He's got a couple of new cuts as well on his lip and nose. He also broke some more fin bones on his tail cause I see the top part of his tail broken and coming off soon I think...

I have no idea what is going on here.... I mean my water is pristine. I'm doing 20% WC every 3 days. Temp. of tank fluctuates throughout the day from 27 to 28 or 28.5C maybe... 29. Recently I have the lights turned onto Moonlighting throughout the day cause I was recommended to keep lights off so it won't frighten a Skittish Aro? My tank is fully Filled with water.... I really Dont know what else to do here honestly... If my RTG keeps jumping like this I dont think he's going to survive or maybe he'lll loose an eye or something next time hitting something with an edge even though I dont see anything thats sharp.

Like Should I decrease the water lvl? What should I do here that can stop him from jumping and calm my RTG down until he feels secure again? He's always hiding now very nervous. I approach the tank now slowly cause I dont want to frighten or shock him.

It totally hurts seeing my RTG soooo banged up. He was developing very nicely until now. =( :(:(:(:(:(

Almond leaves are suppose to help calm the aro down. Sounds extremely skitish.. are you watching your parameters to do the water changes or are you doing them for the sake of keeping the nitrates down after testing?

Tank size? Aro size? Tank mates?

I've been doing WC's every 3 days with additional salt cause my RTG is injured badly and I want him to heal faster.

If I was to buy a test kit what should the Ideal water Parameters be?

Try and get some Indian almond leaves, also I'd think about putting something dark on top of the lid, so it can't see out.
Also another fish might take its attention away from jumping, and give it something to chase. I'm no expert but may be a silver dollar or something bright which can out swim it.

If I put something Dark on top there will be no lighting... So so I keep 1 light on inside the tank so there is atleast some light? or just leave the lights off and keep tank dark? and put something on top?

A Silver dollar or some other fish tank mate huh??? Hmm.... i can definately do that go buy something that would give my RTG some company. Should I get a pleco??

Reduce level a couple of inches and add ketapang leaves and salt..... it brought my mine back from chipped scales. I would knock him out with clove oil or transmore and cut the tail so it grows back evenly.

What's on the back of the tank? He may see his own reflection and chase his own tail. If you have any other pets that may be freakin him out keep them away from the tank. Good luck. I've seen worse recover.
