After looking over your pictures again. Is the spotting on yours more like a solid yellow spot or more of a translucent highlighter type yellow?

Here's one of my Kelberi's when it was like 8-9"... Picture was taken by my buddy when he still had it.

At first I thought was translucent fold between tail fin, but it was actually solid yellow spot. After looking at your picture... yeah, they look identical.
Thanks.......

Got couple pics again.... sorry making this like a big deal... too much excitement of this tiny yellow spangles..... haha

Many hobbyist will also argue that by speeding up a fish's growth will affect it's coloring. Sometimes growing up to fast will affect it's colors, so the say.

I think food will just enhance. If it's in your gene's that your color is a certain way, then it will develop no matter what type of food is eaten. If the color is red, by feeding it certain types of food will just enhance to make it MORE RED.

It's like if I was born with black hair, by eating certain foods will it make be blond?

agreed....

And I know what you feed :D Oh sorry off topic..;)

NO;) Not secret :)

IMO size and age do bring out the colors, but not neccesarily the little guys dont look as good as the bigger guys.
i have 8 kelberi,all the same batch.
the smallest guy is only 2-3" while the rest are 4-6".
however, the smallest guy has just as much yellow on the tail as the others and has more spangling on the dorsal than the others.
and water quality and feeding do come into play, but IMO kelberi will still keep their trademark spotting on pectorals, anal, and lower caudal.

So my 8 1/2'' incher is just a late bloomer? :screwy:

I believe Rapps' 2nd batch came in two sizes, remember???

The guy I acquired this kelberi from bought it at 6" at that time. The bigger ones of that batch.
The rest of my 2nd batch were the smaller group. 4-5" size at the time of purchase.

I am very sure people who bought bigger ones of that batch will start to see something in the next few weeks or so.

Double check.

Yes this is true. I did not think about that. I am happy with the progress I am seeing. The pictures don't show what I see again so until they do you and I can update everytime we see another spanlgle! :headbang2

Your's are looking great by the way!
