Thank you. I just moved around some fish. I placed the two oscars and the knife fish in a small 30g indoor pond for now (heated), and moved the pleco to another community I have setup. Though I had to make space for more fish, the aquarium now contains the 12" pacu, 6" Black Shark, and 4 2 1/2" Sun Catfish. Sound better?
pacu you should still listen to guppy and get the rubbermaid setup that 55 is way small for him/her

Many people are saying that and many people are saying its fine for the time being. Is it okay for him for a month or so?

Is it really that bad?

Its going to come to a point where the pacu will smash its face on the glass because
its too cramped. It will smash its face so bad that the front lip will fall off and might show the teeth. A pacu panics if it has difficulty turning around. I say a few months and this will happen. You definitely need to get a wider , bigger tank.

Thanks everyone! Something just happened this morning which really scared me, I thoght my tank was coming down! One sun catfish slipped into the pacus gills and the pacu darted and slammed into all four sides of the tank, knocked off the heater, filter tube and hit the lid of the tank and sturred up all of the gravel! He was darting and banging for nearly 5 seconds (it seemed much longer). The tank held up fine though. Hes getting a new pond ASAP.

I question whether or not your future 400 gallon would even be good enough for your current stock....?

I was going to post similar to what you just posted after reading all the responses. I noticed the thickness of the glass for the tank, and immediately thought that if that Pacu gets startled could possibly crack the tank, which will cost you more in the long run. If you could possibly get what Guppy suggested, and trough with just an air bubble should be good temporarily, and if it indoors, should stay around 65 degrees or over. This temp, I found is tolerable for the pacu, anything colder could kill it.

I have two small 50g containers which are shorter but wider than the aquarium, but I dont know if I could put him in there. I would feel like im ignoring him. This guy is like a dog to me, only more important. I hope you understand what im talking about, im really attatched and want to see him... Say this fish was at his max size, would he be okay in this take at the current moment?

I really don't think that is wide enough even if it did not grow any larger. A fifty g tub is minimal but better than where it is for the short term. I also agree that there are cheaper brands than rubbermaid, check with someplace like Ace Hardware or Lowe's.
