Just like an ATF. A vititus will only reach about 2ft. But because of there activing swimming prefference really they shouldnt even be kept in a tank.

My 10" bass covers more ground swimming in 10 mintutes then the redtail does in a week at 12".

That doesn't matter. You may not see it move much but I bet once the lights go out it will be out and about. The point is to give your fish a good home. Like a lot of other members have said before would you rather in a house or a closet?

My Red tail rarly moves. Night or day. I get off at work at 1am come home to dark tanks. Hes probably not like other red tails due to his poor health when i first got him. So your probably right. Im just still not convinced he would need more then a peacock bass. Given there natural habits and swimming preferences.

I wasnt really trying to say the tank is big enough for a RTC, moreso trying to understand how a fish thats 70% the size and swims faster and more often needs a smaller tank.

Trust me once he regains his strength it will be like night and day. What's wrong with him and how are you treating it.

A healthy rtc can likely swim just as fast if not faster then a peacock bass. They just cruise because they are ambush predators they make their food come to them.

He was underfed and in bad water from what i could tell. He has bad gill curl on 1 side and some odd looking scaring on his head. Fins were frayed. Hes good and healthy looking other then the Gill curl. I have been reading into trimming them.
