actually a CK would work in a 150g(5x2x2) ;)
THANK YOU!

I'd definatly give a CK more then a 5' tank.. definatly at least 6'.

And a niger cat will definatly not work in a 150g.

And do you still have the 150g or did you give it to your dad and have the 55g?

hell you could keep a ck alive in a 55, but that dont make it right. ck's get big, and fast. they are actually very active if given the proper room, a 150 is hogwash.

sorry, i have to disagree. it will work for a while... but not forever. when i visited the shedd aquarium a few years ago they had several 3-3 1/2 foot clown knives. sorry, but theres no way an animal that gets nearly four feet will work in a 2' wide tank...

don't believe me... check out fishbase
http://fishbase.org/Summary/speciesSummary.php?ID=27034&genusname=Chitala&speciesname=ornata

(btw thats actually the page for c. ornata, which i accidently clicked. its taking me too long to load the page for c. chitala)

Guys, just stay on the topic. I know how big clown knifes get. I am only keeping him for a few months. I will post pics soon.

Public aquarium is much different then a home aquaria. Fishbase is the size they could obtain in the wild. From what I've seen, most clown knives don't even exceed 24".

Much different because public aquarium have larger tanks? The tank these fish were in didn't seem much larger than 300 gallons, if that. In the case I mentioned, it was the age that matteres. Fish base usually lists max size and average size... you know, i think i have pix of those knives somewhere, and there were several.

So no one should own a clown knife unless they can provide the multi thousand gallon tanks as the Shedd aquarium?

Guys, you are thinking I am keeping him in the 55 for his whole life. No I am not. I am only keepinh him unitil Aug. or Sept. I want to watch some of his growth. He will then go to a 225 to live in a bigger tank when hes ready.
Back on topic here are pics for ID:
