actually your wrong,4 feet is in a wild, and 3-3 1/2 foot is in thousands of gallon of water, whats the odds of seeing a clown knife hit 3 feet in captivity from a personal collector? its mostly 20"-24" ;)

No, the 3 foot fish was in an approximately 300g tank. Oh, and this fish was probably at least 6-7 years old.... very possibley much longer. You don't see fish of this size from private collectors because rarely will anyone keep a fish that long. They usually die before then, not to mention a lot of keepers sell fish within weeks or months of getting them..

Guys, just stay on the topic. I know how big clown knifes get. I am only keeping him for a few months. I will post pics soon.

This is fairly irresponsible and immature behavior.

It's pretty much the same as your parents saying they don't want to deal with your teenage years so they just ship you off to an orphanage.

In my opinion, you shouldn't buy something unless you plan to care for it.

In a 240 to 300g tank CKs don't grow over 24". So it's hard to figure what your trying to suggest. Maybe a little resesarch on the matter and your responses will be more clear. Your not even sure what size tanks you seemed to think you saw these CKs in.
The aquarium where I volunteer has a trio of clown knives in the pond of their Burmese Python's tank. The pond is about 450g, one knife is 3' 5" and the other two are just shy of 3'.

What? you stated they had several 3 -3.5' clowns, were these all in the same 300g? Even at best dimensions a 300g footprint is going to be 8' x 30".I find this very hard to believe.

this whole back and forth on how big a ck will get in captivity makes me wonder...wonder how big mine will get...it is less then a year old in my possetion and 3 months at the lfs and it is 18" right now...i got it at 5-6" maybe 7" i don't remember what i posted it as...as that would be what it was back then...

This thread has gotten off topic. There is always going to be different views on captivity and wild sizes and tank sizes for large fish.
