Guys, you are thinking I am keeping him in the 55 for his whole life. No I am not. I am only keepinh him unitil Aug. or Sept. I want to watch some of his growth. He will then go to a 225 to live in a bigger tank when hes ready.
Back on topic here are pics for ID:

No, your CK is not a royal.

Thanks for the id rick I apperciate it.
I love this clown knife, he has so much personality. He eats right off my hand.
I am only going to keep him till he gets about 12-13''.

So no one should own a clown knife unless they can provide the multi thousand gallon tanks as the Shedd aquarium?

having reading troubles? i stated the tank was around the 300g size. and yeah, i wouldn't recommend someone to house a ck for life in anything smaller than a 240g-300g tank.

In a 240 to 300g tank CKs don't grow over 24". So it's hard to figure what your trying to suggest. Maybe a little resesarch on the matter and your responses will be more clear. Your not even sure what size tanks you seemed to think you saw these CKs in.

55g. will do for a while, but as people state you need a bigger tank, 150g should do. Enjoy the little guy while you can.;)

sorry, i have to disagree. it will work for a while... but not forever. when i visited the shedd aquarium a few years ago they had several 3-3 1/2 foot clown knives. sorry, but theres no way an animal that gets nearly four feet will work in a 2' wide tank...

don't believe me... check out fishbase
http://fishbase.org/Summary/speciesSummary.php?ID=27034&genusname=Chitala&speciesname=ornata

(btw thats actually the page for c. ornata, which i accidently clicked. its taking me too long to load the page for c. chitala)
actually your wrong,4 feet is in a wild, and 3-3 1/2 foot is in thousands of gallon of water, whats the odds of seeing a clown knife hit 3 feet in captivity from a personal collector? its mostly 20"-24" ;)

sure will!

the size of a fish is all down to water quality and feeding... as fish grow they realease pheromones in to the water that will stop or slow there growth if they are in a tank.. but if you are looking after them with regular water changes to keep pheromone levels down as well as keeping the water clean and good food there is know reason why these fish will not out grow 240 g tank.
