Dovii afe sometimes hard to sex.. I have one some people swore was a male and some a female.. He is about 6-1/2 inches now and is definatly a male.. Mine didnt have spots over the lateral line at all until he was around 5-1/2" but now has alot of spots everywhere and his fins have blued up alot.. You just have to wait imo.

Yeah from looking around at posts I'm stating to see that. So idk how fish stores act like they are so sure if it's a male or female

So he is definitely a boy and I found him a gal they are getting along good right now so I have high hopes. They look so good I'm excited :)

Ok so now the female is picking on the male she makes him stay at the top of the tank. She hasnt done any dmg to him at all though. I have the means to separate them but should I wait and see if they work it out since neither fish is hurt or separate them for a bit and try agian later? Idk lol

I'd recommend a divider or separating them if there's obvious aggression. Dovii are nasty, and it doesn't take more than a few minutes alone to have unfortunate circumstances with more than one in a tank.

You could divide them in the same tank, then when you're home to observe, allow them in the same area for a period of time each day and see if they start to come around. Otherwise, you're just hoping nothing bad happens if you leave them together without watching.
