just a general question to op and those who truly despise fish keepers who feed their pet fish fish. Here's one for ya are you more tolerant of them or peeps who grossly overstock their tank.
I think "despise" is a really strong word here.
The issue of the original post was about people who "show it off", for the shock value, or just to see what reaction they will get.
Those are the people that "despise" fits.
Folks that keep fish eating animals tend to feed fish. Folks that keep rodent eating snakes tend to feed rodents, Folks that keep meat eating folks, tend to feed meat.
The issues here are that (SOME) of the folks that feed the needs of their particular animals, seem like they get more enjoyment out of making a post or video of the spectacle, than keeping the animal to begin with.
Almost like they bought the animal solely to show off it's feeding habits instead of actually caring about it.

Folks that grossly overstock their tanks, either don't know any better, simply don't care, or are knowledgable enough to do so and make it work.

i don`t know whether its just my age or i`m seeing things differently nowadays but there seems a sickness to my mind in todays hobby.
i cant believe how many people on this forum seem to delight in watching one fish eat another.
I`ve owned preds over the years and have fed them live fish when needs must but have always hated doing it.
I don`t want to be fed the spurrious argument that its replicating nature cos its not. prey animals have a chance to escape in the wild tipping one fish in with another in the confines of a tank is voyeuristic if it isn`t just a means to get a fish eating,
I find the lack of regard that some people here have for " prey animals " disturbing ,though i suspect many are young and haven`t yet developed the empathy factor that grownups develope.
Ive made mistakes and have marvelled at one fishes ability to swalow another but this deliberate destruction and in particular ill matched predator prey size is just sick in my mind,
Am i the only one here that thinks this! am i on the wrong site ?
i thought i was joining a forum that loved big fish not lets see fish suffering dot com .!
I`m 43 yo perhaps i`m just not down with the kids eh .or too old for these sorts of sites.

It is sick in your mind. So, I respect that. But it does not mean you need to think that you are more intelligent and/or mature than another person who's opinion differs from yours. I don't want to get into name calling so I can help keep this a civilized thread. However, to me, your post is arrogant.

I was talking to a friend and we have decided that there are many people fighting fish for fun in our area... it is sad... The toughest part of the people who are feeding live food is that they do it at an unhealthy level and do it for fun not for the benefit for the fish

He was just stating an opinion, which he is entitled too. Chill man, he wasn't aiming it directly at you.

You don't have to get into name calling (although technically you did by saying his post was "arrogant"). You just have to realize one simple thing.
That is this, no matter what, we can all "agree to disagree".
If you happen to be one of those that keep animals for the "pleasure" of feeding them and seeing what destruction they can put forth, then my statement here obviously does not apply to you, my apologies if I offended you.

I was just thinking the same thing. Also, in all reality, the whole my fish can kill this fish is pointless because I could scoop your fish out of the tank and eat him with a nice lemon butter sauce. :grinno:
Just thought I would try to lighten the mood. :)
