I'm in the UK and I have a rainbow. 6 weeks of owning and it will eat out of my hand. Love this fish and I don't mind being mean about telling you. ; )
Its not like anyone can find my friends friend just by me talking about snakeheads on a fish forum

Actually, ...they can. It's called; "Impeding a federal investigation" if you opt to not cooperate.
BTW, do we remember that we have several law officers, F&W agents, and DNR staff as members on this site?
There are some Northern Snakeheads being kept at a public aquarium in Shedd Aquarium in Chicago. There used to be a public aquarium in Washington D.C that holds some northern snakeheads but the public aquarium closed down?Does anyone know if there are any in public aquariums?

It's not uncommon for public aquariums keeping illegal/invasive aquatic species for education purposes as long as they have a permit for them. Asian carps, ruffes, round gobies, sea lamprey, walking catfish and even Asian Arowanas have kept in few public aquariums scattered around in United States along with some protected fish species that you can't even get hands on them due to the legality.I'm quite honestly surprised at that. A public aquarium keeping a snakehead, and the likely positive exposure they'll get with the public, can't possibly help the government's desire to eliminate them.
