Is this a good filter?

I will be running it on a 55 gallon tank with a single oscar...

I already have a Tetra 30-60 filter on there (330 GPH turnover)

so both of those filters together will turnover 580 GPH for a total of a little over 10x turnover per hour...

Is that good for my O for life?

Well let me say a couple things. First off I have the same Tetra 30-60, it's not all that great, you can't compare it to my marineland emperor 280 in my opinion, which does less GPH.

I'd say for $75 @ petsmart get the emperor 400. I know I love my 280, and i'll be picking up a 400 eventually for another tank.

You can get the Magnum 350 at Drfosters. For 100 and its a great! filter and I believe they have an option to have it hooked to a bio wheel as well. Id recommend that over the hot magnum.

Not a bad setup with the biowhl, but for the $ just get a ac110 or at least an AC70.
The Petsmart price of $110 is rather steep for the deluxe hotmag.

well, its hooked up and running fine... I liked the fact that you can use carbon and when you want you can swap it out with the water polisher (havent tried it yet but I will soon) but I plan on adding at least 2 more filters to the setup (if theres room) lol

and btw, I can hook mine up to another filter powered by a bio wheel =/ idk how but I plan on trying it out whenever I get more money so keep the opinions coming

Let us know how it works out. I would have personally just put an AC110 on there and then add a canister in the future.

Put a powerhead in there and you get even more turnover. I personally also would've gotten the AquaClear 110 (500 gph) from fostersmith for $80 and gotten a canister later.
