is this a jack dempsey?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
that fish is not a jewel, let alone from africa. ur a madman :P

2" JD male and Hemichromis species look plenty differentiable to me.

that is a mudd blood my friend he is a cross-breed

cross-between a jack and a jewel. it has major :hitting: charateristics of both fish.

look at the circled areas on the fish that are not yours. look at the circled spots on both fish and then look at your fish crossing breeds with these fish could result in your fish.

I agree. It looks like a young stressed out JD. Give him 2 weeks, re-post some pics of it, and I would bet everyone would agree.

Whoa!! No one ever seen fresh juvies here?? Agreeing with P45, you're crazy:), and w/Mayhem!!! They always look that sh***y when they come in and also being small. Def. a JD. A Jewel/Dempsy cross???????WTF Jewel, Afr. , JD, south of the border! Just because the jewel lays eggs doesn't mean....Not sure but don't think that could happen, a quick look at sci. name would tell. By the way, damn near every juvie central and south has all those cute little tail spots and whatnot when small, some go away and some become part of markings. ITS a Dempsy.
