Its a JD for sure, its just stressed or the photo has been taken after a change in lighting. Colours are never good when fish are stressed, but I think everyone knows that.

Jewel cichlid? umm NO. That is definatly NOT a sp of Hemichromis.

it does look like a jewel and it does look like a JD, but i have to agree with sleepy on this....closer to a JD.... at first i thought it was a crossbreed, but they are from two different waters, which wouldnt make sense.... phenegrene, can u get a better pic? or take a different pic? so we can see it better

My vote goes to JD as well. Possibly a gold JD? A baby JD none the less.

I know it's a jack and NOT a jewel because it has that irridescent 'lipstick' lol.

Not a Gold just a little light colored, its small... She'll darken up when she getts bigger...
