Is this as bad as it looks?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hmmm, im just thinken something had to have gotten in there. i never seen so many bubbles lol

The tank and filter are new. Maybe there was something left over from the manufacture. It's draining now and then I'll fluch the wet/dry and try fill again.

crazy....might be the intake is collecting bubble from a hole from the intake.....like drinking soda through a straw with a hole in it.

WOW!! Man def. drain and refill. I would drain almost the whole tanke, but I have paranoia for things like that. It def. looks chemical to me. Soap or something. It is way to thick to be water (clean water anyway). Drain rinse and repeat lol. GL

could be some leftover detergent ( glass cleaner? ) that the store washed the sump or piping before delivery...

Might you have added some of those supermarket sponges ( the ones used for dishwash? ) they are some of the most dangerous things imo, because some come with detergent included...

you did best by restarting....

That is not normal. I have the same living color wet dry. Mine never did anything like that. I can see a few airbubbles but nothing to that extent.
I believe their is something in that wet dry. I set mine up "cold" without cleaning it and never had any problems.

Good Luck,
Ed

Check your filter pad. I use filter socks http://www.thatpetplace.com/pet/group/2616/product.web

I've noticed a similar ocurrance if the sock is not rinsed well before use.
I've never seen anything to that extent, but similar type bubbles.
I have a Perfecto mega-flow 120 gallon.

I would not mess with the overflow vent. It's there to prevent suctioning all the water in one swoop. By blocking it, your water level will rise quick, and then fall quick in a flushing like motion.

Definitely drain and then start with a new rinsed filter pad. I would also run carbon for a while in case it's something else.

Good Luck!!!
