is this HITH?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the pits on his head are sensory pits that are normal , although they are where hith usual starts... keep your water perfect oscars are not beginers fish imo due to how fragile they are. the fin is a cyst/abnormal growth they are quite common on cichlids and wont get any worse or better he'll be fine.

so he turned out to actually have Hith, and it got worse, it spread down to under his lip. ive been doing WCs regularly, adding prime each time before i add water, what else should i do? and yes those spots i the first pics are Hith, each hole he has is symmetrical. to the other side of him.

and my water conditons are bad right now, some amonia and nitrateds came up in the tests. what do i do? should i switch from the carbon to the micron filter?

I had oscars with heads like that........Perfectly normal, sensory glands that detect movement.........Just like the lateral line alongside the body, these sensory pits are located on the forehead to feel ahead where creature is going...............

Looks like HITH to me. What I do is a big water change. Add salt and Kordons Methalyne blue. In a week or 2 with regular water changes he should be back to normal.
