The first pic is an oscar with normal sensory pics. The second is a butti tilapia with true hith. You will notice that hith is much larger depression and isn't a bunch of pin prick holes in an ordered circle. From what u have shown of YOUR oscar so far it doesn't not have it.

Ok thanks for updated pics that is definitley hith that has infiltrated the sensory pits, it should clear up easy with better water quality. Do water changes as stated before it keep the water clean and it will heal fast

he didnt have hole in the head in the first pic now it looks to be starting, as i said it starts in those sensory pits which are normal... like i also said oscars are not beginners fish imo more like expert level, they need to be kept in absolutely pristine conditions almost to the level of rays.... anyone who doesnt do WEEKLY large water changes can expect to wreck their fish, thats my opinion... some also say its caused by other things such as activated carbon amongst other things... read through some of aquanero's threads and follow his guidlines, unless its really bad they do recover if treated with the correct antibiotics and treatments.

My buddy's oscar had a terrible case of HITH. He did multiple water changes with aquarium salt and it healed up within a week.
