Is this ich

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That white stuff could be fungus, no? originally it looked like ich but this looks diff, unless I'm wrong.

Quick Cure is good stuff for this, however i saw you didn't post your Ph. It is important when choosing the correct meds. Ich can and will kill the fish if not treated. Sometimes salt and heat doesn't work depending on the severity of the out break you may have to go to meds. I like to try treating without them but when necessary you may have to go the medacation rout. This isn't fungus. The Quick Cure will get this, you should always do a large water change and vacuming of the sub strate before administering meds to get as much of the Ich out of the tank as possibile.

Okay I have class from now until 3. I'll get back and do large water change and gravel cleaning! I just hope he pulls through this, funnily enough no other fish in the tank are infected.

Even if no other fish are showing any signs of Ich the entire tank and is occupants need to be treated.

I would try some melafix as we'll during your treatment for this. It treats so many different things that if it happens to he something besides ick that this may still help getting rid of your problem

Just an FYI, I'm not a fan of either Pimafix (Pimenta racemosa) or Melafix ( Tea Tree Oil) as both are oil based. I've always felt the oil can interfere with gill function and would not recomend it's use for that reason. While both have some anti-bacterial & anti-fungal effectivness IMO there are much better first reponse treatments available. Salt for non sensative species is as good if not better than either of these as salt also improves gill function while promoting healing and osmotic activity. Just my opinion on these two products.
