Is this tank overstocked

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I agree,it'll make your life much easier.I just use a clear vinyl hose because it's cheaper.

I believe angelfish should have a 55 minimum however that’s just my personal opinion, unless it’s for breeding.
I may have gotten the volume wrong but isn't a standard 29g 24" x 18" x 18" ?

I’ve been told many times lol I’m currently working on money for 75g tank I’m only at 47$ but it’s only been about a week and haven’t started really working yet should start soon but if anyone has a 75-90g tank for a decent price please let me know it would be greatly appreciated I’m giving myself a budget of 450$ but hoping to find a tank and hood for the 175$ range then I plan on buying heater and filter separately please help me out on finding a tank I’m in Ohio Cincinnati area thank you
Best thing I ever invested in! I should have bought one sooner. My back and floors would have thanked me!

good luck with saving money.

I wish I could help you find a tank but I’m in Canada so not much help here.

though I did find my 135g tank, stand, and decor for $300....you just need to keep your eyes peeled for those deals

I thought it was 30 x 12 (I don’t remember height).

I live in a major city and a lot of people sell used tanks for very high prices but every so often someone from a small rural town will post tanks for sale that are cheap that they just want to get rid of.

I had to travel approximately 45 mins out of town for this tank.

Aight, I'll watch myself. Just couldn't stand him being confidently incorrect.
The problem with your post is the personal attacks.....

You don’t get any 18” wide until 40 breeder and 75’s, I believe they’re 30” x 12”

For the redtail catfish, arowana, and other monster fish, if price for a monster tank is an issue, you can buy one of those large stock tanks for a fraction of the price and use that temporarily. I’ve seen 300 gallon stock tanks for around $100 dollars in my area and on Craigslist. I also would not recommend getting the 75 gallon. Arowana grow very quick and will outgrow the tank in a few months (as other members have noted). If I were you I’d save money on a tank at least 200-300 if you want to keep the arowana and redtail catfish longterm. Even that is not optimal as your maintenance would have to be much more frequent and possibly aggression between fish due to territory. Again good luck! I remember when I was your age and wanted arowanas, p bass, and other monster fish. Although you seem confident that you will have the opportunity to upgrade accordingly, as a kid I had trouble getting my parents to agree on such large aquariums, especially the hundreds if not thousands of dollars. Hopefully it all works out!

Also, a 29 gallon is sufficient for those angelfish and community fish. I have kept 6-10 juvenile angelfish in a 29 gallon with no problem. However, they do get pretty large as my adult male is around 5-6 inch in height and especially if you have multiple (I think you have 1?) they will pair off and be aggressive towards each other. I also agree with Nikki about the python, literal life saver and saves a lot of time. Since I connect my python into the basement I don’t waste additional water as the pressure automatically starts the siphon. Also only around $30 so I recommend investing in that then trying to get the 75 gallon.

the arowana I’ll sell I mean I love and care fit all my fish but my main masterpiece is bullseye my rtc hybrid I’ll sell all other fish if it means a suitable tanks for bullseye he’s my main priority at the end of the day. Where are you from a 300g stock tank for the price you said would be amazing my mom is aware of the size of the fish as well, I don’t know how she’d feel about a 300g but I’m sure I can convince her it’ll just take a lot of talking

I agree with rayoddballfish rayoddballfish buying a 75g is like plugging one hole in a strainer jump right to a 300 ish stock tank. 47$ does not even make a dent in the costs a adequate aquarium would cost. and even a 300g will not hold the rtc/tsn permanently you would be looking at around a 12-16x5x3 tank thats in the 1000-2000 gallon range. im not trying to deter you but thats a huge tank especially since it would be at your parents house.
