I was looking for a bigger tank for my fish and i found this deal......

FULL SET-UP comes with...
-150-Gallon Glass Tank
-Wood Cabinet Stand
-Wet/dry, sump
-Heater
-Light / FullHood
-4-Big Male Frontosas-12" each-come w/the tank price.
EVERYTHING FOR $500.......

only problem.......
The tank is over 8 Years old!!!!!
the woman says there are no leaks and no chips and its currently running and has been running for over 8 years well.

is this a good deal??? is it a problem that the tank is over 8 years old??? what can i do to be sure it does not crack on me in the next several years?

thank you in advanced,,, :)

ok but its preety old!! will it crack in the next few years???? what if i re-seal it with silicone??? will that help ALOT???

thnaks for the fast reply

I wouldn't expect it to crack but I'd take extra caution in making sure it was 100% level before setting up just incase. Also if the silicone looked good to me and still felt strong I don't think I'd bother re-sealing. I don't have personal experience with old tanks but my friend has a 10 year old glass 250g that is still going strong.

if everything checks out then yes i would say go for it!!!

thou i would ask her about her water changing schedule. if it sucks then SLOWLY change the water with these fish, otherwise they might go into shock with normal water conditions.

ok thanks tRIP........ anyone else done this before??? or does anyone else have an comment on this???

thanks

EDIT: thanks for your reply Gr8karmaSF.

yes its still filled and it is still in good condition...but i am worried about the future???

what can i do to be sure it will not break/crack in the future???

thanks

how about buy the deal and buy a new tank that way you get everything in working order and all you have to do is buy a tank.

If it is not scratched, it's a good deal. I wouldn't worry about the seams, get a one week guarantee on leaks.
