Do Chocolates do well solo? My 120 gal. is only suitable for one.
Mines been fine, I've seen other solo chocs too, particularly FINWIN FINWIN 's. My major concern was that I wouldn't get the "colours" unless I had a pair. But as you can see mine's beautiful and still only young, more to come I hope. And finwins choc Bobo is pretty famous on here for its colour displays, I've never seen anything like it for a solo species fish.

Stanzzzz7 Stanzzzz7 has a pair and his are stunning too. So it looks like whether you go solo, or pair them up, there is a strong chance with this cichlid that you will get some good colour results.

Well, after feeling slightly disheartened earlier in the week with my new 120, due to my clowns and beardless barbs turning extremely skittish, i moved them all to my 360 this morning.

I can't believe the transformation. My clowns were practically glass surfing almost straight away in their goofy clowny way. Extremely active, looking like they are loving their new surroundings. And the beardless barbs seem to have tagged onto my filament barb shoal. Pictures no longer do this tank justice now, I need to video it, but downloading videos is way past my limited skillset regarding technology.

My 120 is nice and calm now, with room for a red shoulder severum, picking up next week hopefully. All being well I will start a new grow out thread regarding the new addition.

All in all I am now very happy how things have turned out. This thread started with a very negative possible tank blow out and morphed into something altogether different and extremely upbeat.

I'll close this thread down now, thanks for tuning in!

It lives!!!!!!

So having taken position of the above flat packed 180 I managed to dis-assemble the pond I had in the new side of my fish house.

Which held about 100 ukg and was housing grow on koi for the winter, 6 mahseer, three cigar barbs and two black shark.
In its place I have built a stand and re-built the 180.

Quite a challenge in such a tight space !
After a week curing it was half filled then after another few days the water slowly increased.
Whilst it’s not as pretty as it ever was, I used black silicon in the rebuild and it serves the function now. Holds almost twice as much as the original pond and takes up far less space in this fish room, giving me more space to work AND I now get to see the fish from side on.

Currently with koi, filament barbs, distichodus, large tyre track eels, 8” Sperata and 8” Asian redtail. The mahseer will be moving back in as soon as the weather warms and the koi can go out to their parents in the pond.
Bare bottom tanks are not my favourite but with these fish and a new tank it helps.

Hey, I recognise that 180 from somewhere, can't quite put my finger on it, lol.

That's fantastic, if it wasn't for you taking it off me that tank would be a heap of shards somewhere by now. Great job Fishman Dave Fishman Dave .

Are we still on for this other little "project" we spoke about?

Be patient my friend, lol.

It's just a little something that we've spoke about, but it's still very much in its infancy yet. If it happens I will start a separate thread giving details.

It's all very exciting, it's great having a fellow fishkeeper just over the hill, lol.
