Cute kid! I have a feeling she might not be quite ready for the AK, might want to start her out with a .22...

I grew up around guns as well, but growing up on a farm my family definitely had a different view about what guns are. To me guns have always been seen as very dangerous tools, along the same lines as a tablesaw or a brush-burner. These days I own a couple guns, but nothing collectible.

this was an AK47 in a childs hands

And for what purpose? A simple picture. What's the harm in that? Why not report him to CPS too for endangering the child's life. I know JD has a large collection of firearms, and I'm pretty sure he knows how to keep them secure and out of reach from an unattended kid. So no, I don't see anything wrong with it.

In my opinion, a curious child is much more dangersous than an educated child.

Great movie and monologue. Only problem is that the Soviet didnt really export AK-47s, they mostly exported AKM-47s like my daughter is holding.

I agree. I just love reading the comments from the gun haters. Cute kid JD, and great pic. When I have kids, they will also be taught at a young age.

Thanks man, she is cute, the apple doesnt fall too far from the tree. I am on the other hand one ugly bastard.

i just want to clarify... i am not a gun hater.... i hate guns in the wrong hands... i have a gun and a permit to carry... it has nothing to do with hating guns..it is protecting the innocent and thats as far as i go with it.. the ones that cannot think for themselves was my only concern... i believe in protecting yourself... and i believe we all should be able to bare arms ... to protect ourselves and our family.. this was an AK47 in a childs hands... if you see nothing wrong with that...fine...

The weapon was unloaded. I ALWAYS safety check a weapon when I pick it up, even if I just sat it down. The only concern I had while taking that picture is her dropping a $1,000 piece of history and having it slam through the glass doors on the fire place.

No, she wont start with the AKM. She will with a .22 for sure. Though I bet when she is about 7 or 8 and has arms actually long enough, she will be able to handle my AKS-74s just fine.

She is a VERY girly girl though and loves doing hair, makeup and playing dress up and probably has more shoes than my wife. My wife keeps trying to prepare me and tell me that she might not want to do the whole shooting and fishing thing with me. So far I'm not concerned, she loves fishing with her daddy. :) Probably the best thing a man will ever hear is his daughter asking him to take her fishing.

If their is guns in the house in the first place-
each and every individual in that household should be well educated on firearms...

I love it man

The sooner we get them started the better off they are........I myself plan on putting my daughter through acouple courses here soon......

It is important for women especially. Lets face it, guns are the ultimate equalizer. Second only to excellent situational awareness and good common sense (Holy cow am I having a hard time getting my wife to grasp the previous two concepts) a firearm is a great means of protection.

Very true...Plus up here we got acouple other reasons to be into them and educated on them......

we learn the whole situation awareness pretty well around here......with all the street people and wildlife-it's a way we must live here.....Of course many other factors/reasons......

SA is almost like a forgotten concept in today's society. It really is the number 1 best way to protect yourself yet no one seems to do it. We are all too plugged in to our Ipods and smart phones to notice the world around us.
