Hi all

I accidentally left two of my heaters off overnight and most of today. In Australia, it's currently winter and where I live it can get down to 1-3 c (33-37 f) overnight. When I discovered the tanks both had been around 15c (59f).

One tank is inside and has guppies, bn plecos, and red cherry shrimp. Whilst the second tank is a 5g QT tank with peppered corys and Yoyo loaches and is in my shed outside. Unfortunately, whilst still alive one of my corys is floating upside down. Is this due to the cold water?

Also, what should I be looking for in the next few days in terms of disease etc of these fish that have been in such cold water?

Thanks

Yes you are right the temperature had an impact on them. Hopefully you won't lose the cory and it stills survive. Have you checked your parameters ?

Not since I just did a WC on them about an hour ago. That's how I found out I had unplugged the heater. It's not looking good for the little guy, his still floating upside down and breathing rapidly.

Make sure you don't increase temperature to rapidly while doing the wc's.

I tried not to. I was just reading a couple of interesting things. Firstly cory's will float around if the water is too cold and peppered cory's are subtropical fish (not sure I believe it) and can be kept without heaters.

Yes they are from a cooler region not from the Amazon I think either Venezuela or Uruguay but not absolutely sure.
