Your thinking paludarium? That's a pretty good idea, thanks for going outside the box D! I was sold on those frogs until I saw they are $250!!

If you're considering darts, don't do a paludarium, do a regular vivarium. A 10g dart tank is too small to contain a decent sized water feature. That being said, if you are interested in dart frogs, they are a lot more affordable than that $250. You can easily find young tinctorius azureus (the frogs in that link) or tinctorius cobalts for less than $40. I can point you in the direction of some reputable breeders if you're interested.

If you want to stick with a regular aquarium, I think some cool options would be dwarf puffers, clown killies, a small school of glass catfish or, if you can find them, some small Stiphodon sp. gobies (eg. Stiphodon percnopterygionus).

When it comes to paludarium's I'll take your word for it any day. Your 300 is the only reason I even know how to spell paludarium, it's amazing.. ;) I guess as this tank is currently configured it is a ghetto riparium? Not too sure TBH. At this point I am leaning most towards the SE Asian tank with Scarlet badis. I have a request out with TWS to see if they have/can get them. We'll see what they say.

Thanks everybody for the feedback, lets keep the ideas coming. It's interesting to see cichlid people's taste in the smaller side. Exactly why I put this thread in this section. :)

Jaguar Catfish although you may never see him unless you move the piece of driftwood the always hide in. But this too may be to big for a 10g.

I decided to move the Laetacara today.. Both tanks are a mess. Catching a BN pleco in a 125 gallon stirs up a few things.. :yuck:

The male l. curviceps sizing up the male d. maculatus. "don't do it little buddy he's twice your size!" lol They seem to really like the 125 gallon so far. We'll see how it goes mixing the two species. It's just the two pairs and some cories.

I pulled apart the 10 gallon, added a plastic barrier so the BN can't get back there. It's pretty messy but if the plants can keep up with a BN then I may consider adding one of the species in this thread but I likely wont be able to fit anything. :( At least he has a good tank with pristine water.. :D

lol Laetacara curviceps sorry. I was going to pick up the L. thayeri but heard they can be really hard on the females. I'll get an FTS posted up of their tank here in a bit. That and I was hopeing for husbandry for the D. maculatuus as well.

I really like this tank set up

JK47 ~ I would go for some apistos myself in the tank or some rams, maybe kribs or even an exotic pleco tank...small ones of course... or even shell dwellers...poison dart frogs...creeping crawling things...plants with cardinals or neon tetras and the plecos...you can do an awful lot with a 10 gal if you think about it.Or I should say,"now that I think about it" maybe some Exodons also? You just gave me an urge to go play with a 10 gallon.:ROFL:By the way I am also always trying new plants in tanks for some aquaponics.I got some spider plants and pathos growing in a few tanks.Well actually more like hanging out of the tanks not in them really.
