If you're considering darts, don't do a paludarium, do a regular vivarium. A 10g dart tank is too small to contain a decent sized water feature. That being said, if you are interested in dart frogs, they are a lot more affordable than that $250. You can easily find young tinctorius azureus (the frogs in that link) or tinctorius cobalts for less than $40. I can point you in the direction of some reputable breeders if you're interested.
If you want to stick with a regular aquarium, I think some cool options would be dwarf puffers, clown killies, a small school of glass catfish or, if you can find them, some small Stiphodon sp. gobies (eg. Stiphodon percnopterygionus).






They are dorsigera arent they? The lining on the dorsal is purple like you said. First two pics are before I moved them (not stressed) 




By the way I am also always trying new plants in tanks for some aquaponics.I got some spider plants and pathos growing in a few tanks.Well actually more like hanging out of the tanks not in them really.
