And be patient JDLove. Dempsey spawning takes time and is often quite "rough"! Unless either one looks beat up real bad, I wouldn't worry.

If you're not good at waiting, breeding fish is going to be quite challenging.

I know its just I know they are a pair they have bred but it has been close to an year since their spawn.

I posted wrong sorry. I went back and looked and they bred somewhere around June. I can get pics but their not much, the look like normal JD's.

It was hard to get pictures of the female because she was pushed back into the cave by the male while the male charged me.

Haha thanks. I know I can tell the male wants to but the female just doesn't seem like she does. He keeps flashing his colors at her and puffing out his gills. He had been digging a few pits lately along with the female but other than that they are being their normal selves but just floating in the water.
