Jack Dempsey Breeding

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hm.. Okay thanks for the help. Could I breed the female with a male Midas? The male is about 2" bigger than her is that going to be a problem?

Well it is not a sure thing :) They are my only breeding pair and you know how cute babies are lol. If others think that they can still breed I can wait but I thought a Midas x Jack Dempsey cross would be unique.

Giving up on your Dempsey's from the comment of one individual?? Lol jk

Don't listen to Bktgifridays
a spawn doesn't work as simple as he makes it out to be. You can't just do a WC & crank the heater to above 80 degrees & expect a magic spawn. In theory (YES) you can plump up your fish with live food after a water change & raise the temp in your tank in hopes to get them in the mood. But if your dempsey's are no longer compatible nothing will come from your effort. Believe me, I've breed all kinds of JD's & have 4 projects with them now.:woot:

As far as you trying to breed your dempsey with a midas (NO) ... :nono::nono:
I doubt it will work, but why would you even consider it.
If you need an adult blue gene male for your female, there's one seller on aquabid offering one right now.
I recommend you getting another male JD & Good luck with your progress...
If you want the info on the auction PM me. I don't want to advertise someone's sale here.
Thank You

Jill ;)

JackDempseyLove and Jill....I would like to officially apologize for any offensive posts I may have made, or anything that may have been taken as rubbing my success in. I'm sorry and Now ill drop it!

Bktgifridays you are fine and Jill that was a bit harsh on your wording. I am sure you have had success stories as us all have but you do not know everything and what you say is not always true. What Bktgifridays was correct I did the water change raised the temp and fed them some worms and they are going into spawning behavior. She is cleaning the piece of slate as well as the male and her egg tube is dropping so I am expecting a spawn. Thanks for the help!

Sorry you feel that way, but I don't remember saying I'm always right.
But what I will tell you JackDempseyLove is that what I say (is always true).
If you think you know of a post that I've made that is NOT TRUE... Post it here.:grinno:

Now if your protecting the theory on raising the temp during/after a WC. You're wrong!!!
Doing this doesn't guaranty a Spawn.
I'm sorry to bruise your ego...:nutkick:

Now, I've helped answer a few questions you've asked here in the forum. Even as ridiculous as some are & it's up to you what you do with that information.:confused:

I doubt you know what spawning behavior is. From what you've posted here you don't even know the difference in a male/female JD. You're clueless with a lot characteristics of the Jack Dempsey & are the last person that can say whether what I post is true/false. :owned:

Don't forget... It is you that wanted to Spawn a JD with a Midas.:jaw-dropp

You should read a little more here in the forums before asking questions or accusing someone of being wrong.:duh::duh:

Thank You
Jill:evil_lol:

I never said anyone was wrong and if I had the right setups to even try that I could. I do know the difference between a male and female JD thank you very much. I admit I do not know much when they are smaller it is hard and if you read that thread I believed they were male and female I just wanted other peoples say in it because I know I am not always right just like your not. You are not bruising my ego I know when I am wrong and I admit when I am unlike you. Don't mean to bruise your ego in saying that but not everyone is right and you must accept that. Now I am done here thank you Jill for the help dispite this little argument you have helped me and Bktgifridays you have also and I thank you for that.

Jill, you are one intense person! (Not a bad thing) you obviously know your facts! But I personally think you should lighten up a bit. Were all friends!
