Is there a reason one is more colorful? maybe one is male ones female?
Looks like both are males. The one with more color is just the dominant one. And yes fish can be *** lol I had 2 male tinfoil Barb's that would try breeding with each other all the time. Least to say kind of gross seeing 2 fish just constantly crop dust each other but kind of funny too at the same time lol.

Btw a female JD will have a prodominant blue bearded look to it while the male tend to lack the beard. I'll include a couple pics of a male and female to show what I mean by the "beard". Just got these from Google.

Looks like a pair..
It's not too unusual for 2 males to pair off with eachother, same goes for females. I remember there used to be a lady (I forget her username) on here that had a female pair of angelfish that would lay eggs ontop of each others while also fighting off all the males/females in the tank.

Are they fairly easy to breed? if i got a female?
As far as ik they are. Never was able to do it myself but then again my female was half blind so I think that played a major role in her refusing to breed with the male. She was missing the outer half of her left eye when I adopted her. But yeah from what I hear its pretty easy to breed em.
