Jags sex ID please

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thank you guys. Currently the bigger one is at 6.5" the smaller which I suspect to be a male is at 6.3", so it will be more easier to tell once they hit 7-9"?

Though the smaller one has more spots and the shape of the face are giving hints it's a male. The other one has fewer spots (2nd pic).

What should I be looking for to determine sex once I get them to grow some more?

the dorsal fin a big give away on sex. females be more round or blunt, as a males develops a trailing tip. let me post a few vids of my female and males jags, both WC and there off spring.

take minute then be up.

I've got a question also about defining sex on a few red jewels I picked this weekend if u don't mind, I'm new to the site so I'll try to figure out how to post a few pics

Gotcha, I also have a pair of EBJD's and a pair of GT's, I'm pretty sure a male and female of those pairs, all juvies but the male GT is the largest of all 6 at almost 2", I'm new to the tank world starting out with 55g and going 250 at tax time to give them more space to grow hoping that thy all get acclimated together as juvies, so far all is good with territorialness and fighting lol
