my advice is to not jump into a swimming pool if you do not know how to swim. take it slow. there is allot to fish keeping than just filters and water.

I know what ya mean, I've go a new employee who's been doing it for years so I started with his water and run a good hang on pump(Fluval110) with all his media and filter preestablished, I do all my proper water changes every Saturday morning, I also bought a nice R.O unit so I don't have to deal with buying water, but I'm learning my fish, I want fish that r aggressive that I can feed live fish to once they're mature enough
 
Besides what info I gave u about my water and pump stuff what do u mean about more to fish keeping, I'm assuming I need to research my breeds and compatibility more considering my LFS jut cares about selling fish rather than giving a crap about my setup and goal? The place I go to isn't a pet store though, they're known as the best n my area so that's why go there, and no offense taken at all, anyting I can learn only makes it easier and better for my fish tanking hobby
 
I strongly suggest you learn about water quality and filtration. esp bio filtration. it will make or break your fish keeping.

Yes I run the API master kit, I also know how my ammonias, nitrites, and nitrates convert and how they work n sequence, that is a very great kit, and no offense taken at all
 
as an FYI old fish water is just that, old fish water, it has no benefits, the good bacteria lives on surfaces, mainly your filter sponges and bio media, not in the water itself. if your freind can supply some filter medea, that would be a plus for your fish.
 
I primarily feed pellets, blood/black worms r a treat with an occasional cricket or 2 here and there
