So everyone thinks it’s male based off vents but female off side pics. What y’all think?

Are you 100% sure this is a jag. Looks to me like a parachromis multifasciatus female or but it could also be a hybrid with a jag. Maybe I’m wrong.
 
I’ve no idea on venting but here’s a side on of my male and female jags. I’d say 1000% SHE! If you use my photos for comparison you can see the similarities to body shape,size and colouration. Hope this helps!

agree that it OP jag looks female due to light spotting in the lower half of the body. But, young cichlids tend to adopt female like coloration to look sub dominant. Try to fill up its belly a lot, sometimes a male will slightly drop its genitalia.

If you are really looking for a male, there's no harm in letting it grow out to 10" before finding a female. Female cichlids tend to go for larger and more robust males.
 
Here's my juvenile jag not sure yet if its a male or female but heard that males have black spots under the gill plate and females don't ??
