Jaguar + Dovii?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Let me check them out. Would a pair work in a 90? Part of the reason I was go with my lesser choice was because it was suggested a couple would do nicely. Let me check these guys out.

I have a new favorite :-)
Motaguense

Yeah I knew you'd like them. :D Alot of the motaguense you see around are going to be the red tiger variety. There is also a gold variety and a normal variety that are less seen than the red tigers. But the red tigers are definitely one of the more striking motaguense variety. They are super aggressive and I would recommend atleast a 100+ gallons for a pair. 90 would be good for a single grown mota. I have juvenile motas and they are mean!

While Parachromis motaguense doesn't reach the size of the managuense, a male motaguense is still capable of over 12". Females are usually smaller, less than 10" for the most part.

If I was going to set up a 90g and wanted some kind of Parachromis, I'd do a single female with maybe some kind of cool synodontis. In my opinion, the female motaguense has some of the best and most intense coloring of all the Parachromis.

This is my female motaguense. Currently 2 1/2 years old and about 8". This pic is from almost a year ago. It doesn't quite show, but there is also a light blue coloration on the tail and dorsal fin as well as bordering some of the black bars. The female motas are stunners for sure!

That's a sexy mota! I want to grow out a female just like yours.

I love the look of RTMs, but I think a mota is pushing the 90G to it's limits, and a pair would go beyond

have you ever looked at the Salvini? it is a colorful fish, and it's kind of like having a 1/2 sized parachromis . . . you could easily keep a pair in a 90G and still have room for an interesting addition or two . . .

A single female mota would be fine in a 90g. Those salvinis are awesome.

For the OP, I had a couple a two years ago and loved them. They are sometimes called "mini guapote" for their atitude. A pair of those would do well in a 90g.
