Those temperatures are temperature in shade. Under the sun it would be much hotter, especially in shallow water. If you go see a koi pond, you'll notice how deep the water really is.

The house is in front of the tank then, so it will not have any direct sunlight.

I just finished reading through this thread and noticed it got pretty out of hand sometimes.

For now your fine but arowanas grow fast, really fast so you should get that 180 setup as soon as possible. Having the tank outside might make mainteneance a little tricky. Ideally you should keep the tank inside but the temperature in hong kong isn't too bad. I wish I could get away with keeping a tank outside in md.

As far as tank mates I'd stay go with bottom dwellers. Stingrays, bichirs, and catfish would all work well. But keep in mind that jardinis are very unpredictable; some are nice and some will destroy all tankmates so get ready to lose some fish. Good luck.

Good plan Andrink!! i think itll be fine, just build a little canopy or place an umbrella to block sun if there is any time of day it gets hit for a while

We have got the umbrella covered! I have a giant umbrella about 4 foot in diameter! Probably works!

Btw, no offense but are you the home owner or are you the kid of the home owner?

The reason I ask is that you have to think long term. Knowing summers in HongKong, I don't think every time the wind blow, you want to go chase after an umbrella

And by the way, you should guess.....if I am 12, would I own the house or not? I was thinking of not letting you people find out my age but yeah I'm letting it out now. So I am not the owner but I'm making it seem like it so I'm not going to give out to much about myself. But knowing that this forum is pretty safe, sure, I'm 12.
