JARDINISSSSSS

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
All depends how small the fish you buy is I suppose if you try get a 3" juvi it'll be fine for a while , if I was you though I'd look fr something 2ft wide that'll give the aro more turning space and give you lots more thinking time for an upgrade (I wish I had done this in first place as I had to change tank twice as my jar grew and its a pain moving everything) plus there's always the risk of damage to the aro whilst moving it
Just a few things for you to think about as the time soon goes and upgrades are needed , if I was you I'd either try find an absolute bargain that you can sell on quickly with minimal loss , or just go for something 2ft wide straight away

yea that link that i post is the tank 5ft long and 2ft wide and about 1.6ft in height. i contact some of my my local fish store and 2 of them sell arowana (im mostly looking for a jardini) the silver are about 4"+ and the jar and lei are about 6"+. im thinking of only having the aro in there alone that it.

If you can get that tank looks like your good to go for I'd say at least 12 months , good luck hope you get what your after , make sure it has a tight heavy lid with no gaps (you don't want to go down that road its a nightmare :banghead:)

yea i was able to get the tank. picking it up next saturday. hey i was wondering if i can feed my aro raw market shrimp is that ok? would that be good for him? i think ill do crickets as a treat sometime but not that offen. i hate bugs :( anything bug like with 6 or more legs x-x. that y i love fish cause they got no legs lol. jk i was joking about the bugs but i do hate bugs

Cool thats good news get it picked u and cycled , Raw shrimp is great for colour I've found but its not really enough nutrition so you need to get it pellet trained asap really for maximum growth and health , forget about feeding live bugs if you can help it , it just makes things harder down the line , but of it will only take live food use mealworms and gutt load them with pellets first , the best pellet is hikari carnivore sticks or a cheaper option would be hikari gold

I agree, raw market shrimp is a good mix of food. I'm still "forcing" my (Lei) to go on Hikari Tropical Sticks as his staple food, however. He's about ~7-8" (head to tail) but will only take about 5 sticks before he starts spitting out.

But I'm going to continue with that - and setting my own expectations that his growth will slow down lol. I actually like giving crickets. JayC on this forum provided me the idea of gut loading (I use Hikari food sticks) and freeze them! I question how much nutrients with the gut load, but I can tell you my Lei loves crickets. I also don't worry about them jumping around. I also use mealworms, but I don't use the larger ones yet, and the smaller ones are just treats really. I don't see him getting full on mealworms only unless I feed him about 15+. Krill is also on his menu and likes that as well. He'll also eat the bloodworms and other pellets that is shared with the blood parrots.

This is some of the stuff that I feed my flowerhorn. My flowerhorn wasn't pick on food but when I feed him shrimp I put a pellet or 2 I the middle and the shrimp around. I guess I should try that with my aro when I buy one.
