that argument is invalid and irrelevant. we as fish keepers keep fish (MFK?) and rhoms kill fish, but as fish keepers you should maybe have the good sense to see what is cruel and what is not.
you seem to like the word "feeder" just hypothetically and philosophically say the WW2 germans called "other races" feeders instead of "jews"/"gypsies"/etc would that make it right to put people in camps? and where do you draw the line when its cruel to keep fish? is it cruel to have a pack of neons in arapaimaguys tank? these are ofcourse also irrelevant arguments but you see what I mean...........
I am by the way the guy mentioned above who has the half clown knife.
you put that fish in the position and wasn't responsible enough to kill it/try to save it. if your p had to eat it why didn't you take it up, kill it, and then feed it. wellwell.. all fish are good fish and so is your rhom.. but this is what give piranhas a bad rep..
Taking fish out from the wild and keep them in fish tanks is the same as taking jews/gypsies from their home and keep them in camps. they are all inprisoned against their will by the ones think they are the higher being. how they are treated are different but you should get my point.
Keeping fish in fish tank is cruel to the fish, espeically for the monster fishes we keep. Most of us cannot provide a environment anywhere near to their natural habitat, especially size wise. How can you say that's not cruel to the fish? It's same for keeping wild animals in the zoo. I'm just as guilty as all of us, other wise I won't be keeping my rhom.
I'm just pointing something not all of us want to hear as we love to keep something exoctic for our own pleasure, including wild animals/fish/birds. Won't that be some form of cruelty to them by removing them from their "home"? Imagine this, if some alien life form come to earth and kidnaps you then take you to their homeplanet and keep you in big cage as pet, keep you well fed and all, how would you feel?
Since the damage is already done, I personally prefer to provide an environment as close to the natural babitat as possible within my ability, including food. (I do feed prepared food most of the time since I don't have resource of offering everyday)
To me, the fish I keep is my highest priority and don't care much about the rest. You may not agree but if you think killing a prey fish before feeding it to the fish you keep makes you less cruel, that's cool. I'm just some random guy trying to do something to keep the fish I kept "inprison" happy.
as for what gives piranha the bad rep, that has nothing to do with this. what gave piranha the bad rep is the media broadcasts the incorrect image of piranha and the general public lacks of the proper education regarding piranhas. If piranha owners share what their fishes are capable of on a piranha forum would give them bad rep, then I don't know what to say.
