so i didnt want to highjack the thread about the car...so heres a new one.

i want a humvee. but its going to be like half my paycheck just for payment, then gas, insurance etc... so i guess ill have to wait a bit.

i was looking at Jeeps. particularly the Rubicon in either Unlimited or Wrangler. what i dont like is its either a 6 or 4 cylinder :irked: . and what i want is a small block V8.

so does anyone know of shops or aftermarket dealers who sell jeeps with bigger ingines and heavier tranies? and so far from what ive read and heard the new jeeps come with Dana 44 rear and 40 up front?

The Commander comes with an available v8 as does the Grand Cherokee. Neither is a good buy.

The 6 cylinder has PLENTY of power. My STOCK 1999 Cherokee Sport (4.0L, no longer made) has 190 hp, and 0-60 time is just at 9 seconds. What I do NOT like is that Chrysler took over the Jeep product, and put their engine in.

If you are looking at aftermarket vehicles - go for a Cherokee or Wrangler with the 4.0L
If it's NEW you want, then I recommend the Rubicon, as it is EVEN more capable than a Cherokee in that it has lockers on front and rear axles already.
But again, the new chrysler engines are a turn-off. (The Rubicon comes with a 3.7L 210 hp engine) The '08's have a 3.8 L I'm not sure what happened there.

PS
My 99 Cherokee is an automatic, 4 door, and of course 4 wheel drive - If I drive easy, I get 23 to 26 mpg on the highway. I have had it for 5 years, and it now has 227,000 miles. Still going strong.

jeeps ruin the environment....the bigger your carbon footprint and you'll ruin the plant with your fossil fules which will create global warming and then all the fish will die..........just get a bike

There might be shops that sell them all put together but there are places who sell the parts to put a v8 in wranglers.. mostly pre-86 but I think there are some kits for newer ones up to '04.. would take some research but would be a great conversion.

There's littlerally a ton of info on jeep swaps online.

And of course upgrading the rears/suspension is all normal stuff that is out there as well..

Could also build one of these if you had expendable cash...

What kind of job do you have where an 80,000+ H1 is only half your paycheck? But just go with a wrangler. I just reread your original post. Go with an older CJ5 or CJ7 with a V8

he may have meant a hummer, the H1's were considered more humvees, like milatary style, but almost nobody can afford them, my guess is he meant h2-h3, there affordable..ish--depending on job, to people his age.

ya im not going off my current paycheck (which is like nothing). but my paycheck in the service. we make bank! no joke. and actually its like 5/8 of it.

unless i get it directly from the military. which ill prolly end up doin anyways. it will only run about $8,000- $20,000 depending on the vehicle.
