Hey guys, wondering if I should quit my job at Petco. Currently am making 9 an hour, but the store is about 30 minutes from my house. Great money during summer, school starts up on the second. I already told my boss I would work weekends during the school year (It is my final year at college). However, there is a new organic pet store by my house called Bark. It is a 5 to 10 minute drive, and they are hiring. Also, the lowest they would pay is 8.50 per hour. My girlfriend works at Roots, which Bark is owned by. She informed me that Bark would most likely match or go above what I earn at Petco. (I.e. either 9 or 9.50 an hour).

The problem: I already told the Petco boss I would work weekends. Also, Petco has a reptile and fish section, which are my true passion. However, Bark will pay more then Petco, and is closer to my house. I really really love (some) of the people at Petco.

Bark is just dogs/cats.

Lastly, Bark has MUCH less business, meaning I can work on school work while at Bark.

What do I do? :confused::confused::confused:

Deciede whats more important to you. Money or liking what you do....

Yea, I understand where you guys are coming from. However, I am not pursuing a career in animals. This is to pay for school....

sometimes money isnt everythin you need to stick to your real passion my boss pays me well but I can go out there and do better but if my boss treats me well already and the project i'm on is going to go down in history why do I move on ? I dont cause I love what I do and in time you will either make more money or do what you love doing and maybe own your own petco one day

I would say stay at Petco.. It's what you like, and is a little raise worth working with something that isn't your passion???

Sigh, I hate real life....I want to stay in school forever

At your situation (being in school), its a lot more practical to work at Bark. You only have a year of college left, might as well have more spare change (if you drive) and have more money for fish.

Also, it gives you more time for school work. The fishkeeping hobby will always be there but working somewhere far, giving yourself a hard-time on your senior year and having less money for booze or fish or for whatever is totally not worth it.
