At your situation (being in school), its a lot more practical to work at Bark. You only have a year of college left, might as well have more spare change (if you drive) and have more money for fish.

Also, it gives you more time for school work. The fishkeeping hobby will always be there but working somewhere far, giving yourself a hard-time on your senior year and having less money for booze or fish or for whatever is totally not worth it.

See, and that is my predicament. I am paying my way through school. I have ALMOST enough to finish up. I will have enough to finish the last 2 semesters in about 2 paychecks. However, I will then be broke. I plan on moving out after I graduate, and I need money for rent. God I hate the real world...

I'd stick with the Petco job. You are already established & liked as an employee. You are not guaranteed more money at Barks and it sounds like a total yuppie place, where stuffy people get their poodles treats. Even if you get the 50 cents an hour and cut 15 minutes off your commute time, will you be happy selling dog treats to A-holes? Do you get an employee discount at Petco?.......if so I'm sure you will make up that 50 cents every week and them some. To me Happiness & sanity are for more valuable than money.;)
Just my 2 cents.

And that is why you work at Bark and after you graduate, will have somewhat more cash than you would have if you continued to work in the other place.

Then you look for a job that pays more and will utilize your degree.

At some point in our life, we have to be practical. Like most members here who sell their stock and some of their tanks because their electricity bills are off the roof. Its not like he will be giving up his happiness and satisfaction, he's still in the hobby and as I see it, will continue to be in it.

Besides, its only two more semesters.

College is great but the experience is what you made out of it. I myself have to work myself through college but I have to drive 46 miles to school (round trip) and go to work 24 hours a week. Hardest two years of my life!!! Pay at work was very very good though and everyone I work with was really cool.

Welcome to the real world!!!

More cash.....maybe, that's if they pay you the 50 cents more. And if they do pay you the 50 cents, in a normal work week (40 hours) that's only $20 a week before taxes, after taxes @ 15% you are only looking at $17.......it doesn't seem worth it to me. I'd rather stick with the job I already know and like.

I agree but with more time for school and maybe hooking up with girls who bring their dogs to the shop, I say its worth it. :D:D:D

With a name like "Bark" & organic dog treats/food.......the only girls he'll be hooking up with is Bettsy the 80 year old widow

Bottom line, what ever you think will make you the happiest, go for it!!! :headbang2

At this point in your life with school and money being tight , I will give you the best advice I can. Be as economic as possible. If this means working at Bark then you should do so. It doesn't mean you have to burn your bridges with Petco. Just simply tell your manager what your best interests are and if he is any kind of justified person he will understand and thank you for your time and honesty. Its always good to look toward advancement and in this case a closer drive and possibly more money is an advancement.

You'd be surprised how long $15 can be stretched by a college student...

it would be more than 15$ when you take gas into consideration which im assuming is alot of money

if you want to be economic then work at bark and tough it out or stay at petco and enjoy work but make less money

you guys are lucky i make 7.65 an hour it sucks maybe like 8.25 next january
