I can't tell you which place to work at. But, the best advice I can give you which will carry you through the rest of your life is....

Apply to the new job, Interview, Listen to the offer for hire, If you are interested in the new job then take it starting ASAP, then take a week off at Petco (Tell them a family member died and you need to travel to another state with your parents for 4 days) work the first few days at the new job and if you feel you do in fact like it then go ahead and call your petco boss and quit. If you don't like the new job then you can always go back to petco and they will have no clue.

Now the only bad part is the lack of 2 weeks notice (Which should be given in a "career" type position) but cmon it's petco. It's not like you will be black listed in the industry if you don't give them 2 weeks notice.

Bottom line is always have a new job to go to before quitting the old one.

Well if Bark pays the same or more as petco, what is there to think about? It's not like this is a career.... it's a JOB. With only weekends at petco, seems obvious what I would do

you can always go back to petco, I'm sure. lets see Bark= more free time, more money, less gass=more grass. seems like a tough choice. ever wonder how much more enjoyable this hobby is when you don't work in it too? i'm sure you won't be working at either store soon, with a degree. you're young(i'm guessing) go have fun with the extra $ and extra free time you'll have at Bark, unless you're aspiring to be a store manager at crapco, then you might as well drop out, buy a pinto, and start collecting card board boxes for your future home. just my $.05
and i could'nt agree more with vldesign. you are a # at petco. you might be more at Bark, maybe you start a male escort business with all the rich yuppies, maybe you get into organic in other ways. or maybe you just stay ay petco, cleaning tanks.

it would be more than 15$ when you take gas into consideration which im assuming is alot of money

if you want to be economic then work at bark and tough it out or stay at petco and enjoy work but make less money

you guys are lucky i make 7.65 an hour it sucks maybe like 8.25 next january

Agreed, Taking in consideration gas, it is more than 15 bucks, plus time on road. I would definitely consider barks but be sure you are gonna be paid what you were told.

If grades are a concern to you, I would go for Bark since you said that it is slow there and you can study or do school work.

But at Petco, you already established yourself and you know the people there. At Barks, you might run into some people that you dont like.

My choice would be to get a job relating to your major at college so when you graduate you will have some decent work experience.

We are not talking about a career here. Your main focus is school. You can be closer to home with equal or higher pay than what you are getting at petco. I know you like what you do at petco but maybe its more important to get yourself through school. You can always go back to petco after you graduate. PS maybe you can work at bark during the week and petco on the weekends.

whatever pays da bills. make a list of pros and cons of both shops n decide. but in the end it up to u.

Yea, I understand where you guys are coming from. However, I am not pursuing a career in animals. This is to pay for school....

Apply... Interrview.. let them know you have to give notice.. And then you can most likely go back if you need to. Exploring your options never hurts.. And if you decide to quit... Well...

Then Put your two weeks in and Keep your hobby ;) Win win ;) More money..... Less gas..Less UNPAID WORK RELATED DRIVE TIME .. Keep hobby.... There you have it...

This all benefits your carreer pursuit ;)

ahh to me it doesnt sound like a huge improvement.. if you really love your job at petco just stay there.. i dont know that it would be worth the change, and what if you dont like working at Bark? then youve burned the bridge at Petco...

id probably just stick with where you are...

Go to Bark. Saves 1hr a day, plus gas.
A swell guy like you will make friends anywhere.
You are going to move on anyway after graduation.

Your goal is - more time for school (less commute+study on the job), same money (or more if it will let you work more hours and have time for school work), graduate to a better future.

Your goal is not - same old friends/fish/reptiles/opportunity.

Time + Focus = Graduate = Future.

Don't do what is comfortable just because it is comfortable.
Don't hold to your past if it limits investment in your future.
Future is the goal.
Complete the mission.

Just get the new job locked in before you quit the old.
Quit respectfully so you can crawl back if you need to.
And don't get fired for having your nose in a book.
