Seriously, you guys are like the people in life who nobody likes because they're always criticizing other people. Honestly, get over it. In the other thread people were comparing his threads to spam.

Guess what? I'm interested in his threads. It's not so unsolicited now is it? And no, just IMO, the bulk of members do not mind his threads at all. It's so easy to just skip over them and go onto the next thread.

Why bother posting in his threads if you don't like them, it just wastes your time and his. Nobody benefits. Doing so is 100% pointless. It would be kinda like going to a concert just to talk about how much the band sucks and to boo them. Would any of you honestly do that?

The only reason you do it here is because it's easy and there's no negative consequences for you most of the time. Either post something useful, or ignore the thread and move on. It's that simple.

And to LBF: Read over this thread and your other ones a couple times, there's a bunch of good advice. I know your life might seem rough, but a lot of people's lives are that way. Life isn't fair. You just have to persevere and eventually it'll pay off.

I myself Have never negatively judged LBF,I just found it funny what another member posted.

The only thing is that one would think that with all the advice given to him he would coome back showing results of his better doing.I know sometimes it is very difficult to get things done and they take time like getting a GED or looking for a job in a small town. I completely understand, and I don't want to be taken as a dbag or anything, but IMO you should make one thread where you could update all the good things that are occuring and not only think of the nagative but the exact opposite you should think more POSITIVE.

Please LBF post more positive results and updates of your previous threads than more rants and such even though it lets off steam I think it isnt neccesary everyday.Again im not trying to be mean or anything here.

I hope your search for a job goes well.May I suggest looking in the classifieds for maybe some handyman "on the side" sorta jobs just to get some more income in and then you can start saving up.I now it takes time but sir you only need one thing really to get by sometimes: patience.

Also if sometimes you want to calm down just listen to some music to relax it works better than one would think. You gotta be open minded in this world LBF let me tell you that.

Sincerely,
-Carlos

I've never spoken negative of him. But c'mon at this point hes using MFK how most people use social networking. Each post is like his status on facebook. Not to mention people have spent time giving him solid advice and it seems to fall on deaf ears. Why are people negative? Because nothing has changed!

What if everyone posted like he did? How is he special? At least use the blog section of this site?

A bit late to the party but I couldn't resist. Liz, Gardy's is like a Wendy's except they sell Gar:P:P

Not sure when the hiring manager arrives, but I would call him/her tomorrow and let them know that you are excited and motivated about the opportunity, ready to work on any shift, and was disappointed to not get the call.

Ask if they can call you if someone calls in sick, they need someone to fill in...whatever. You're ready and willing to work.

Verify that they have your contact information and thank them for their time.

That's not annoying. It's showing that you want the job.

Matt

Matt, when you start doing hiring, please come share your experience. I was sharing first hand experience.

Trust me, if there's someone i want to hire, i'll get in contact with them. If i've written you off, nothing will change my mind. plus, if you're in a hiring period, you're hiring to fill a need. Chances are that need has been filled, hence why they're not calling him. Most people are taught to trust your intuition when it comes to hiring, not to be pursuaded by silly stuff such as "Omg, they showed up early", personal references or how often they call.

I can see if this were a skill based craft, that approach might work where there's limited qualifyed applicants, but not entry level at a grocery store.

I have to disagree, I think life is all about persistence and perusing. Even at an entry level, but to him this is much more, and he has to show that. Most of my buddies that hire don't even look at applications, first to talk and have good people skills and keep showing up get jobs.

you are right, application only gets you in the door. it's all about people skills, appearance and experience.

they've already talked and accessed his people skills...hence the interview.
oh well, we can all agree to disagree, back to talking fish keeping
