Jungle Puddle Paludarium Build Log

Another little update... background is complete as is the driftwood pile infront of the false back. Really happy with it so far and it's all solid made.

I know it looks very man-made at the moment. But once the mosses are sourced, take hold and spread - I think it'll look like it was taken straight out the jungle!

And another update...

Background painted black, along with some of the sides so as to hide the construction and equipment behind the false back...

Exo Terra mesh lid replaced with a glass top, to keep humidity and heat it.. looks much better in my opinion. Also a low profile LED light added (22x White, 3x Blue, 4x Purple, 2x Red, 2x Green)...

And the mini waterfall (rain runoff) is running nicely. I had to turn the pump down from 500LpH to 200 LpH though. Not a very good photo as it's hard to capture..

Next up.... lots of moss planting!

So, a stocking idea that came to me. Vampire crabs? Anyone had any experience of these and do people think the setup would be suitable?

My only concern - or something I'd have to accept - they may venture behind the false back and chill completely out of sight behind it.

I like it. No experience, but I can’t see it being any harder than other crustaceans. Crabs are generally pretty hardy as long as proper conditions are met.
Not sure if they need horizontal land space or if vertical is fine though. I get the feeling they wouldn’t really care.
