Just Bought a 24 gallon aquapod, have some ???s

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Its doing good tanks. I got some hair algae though. Any invert that can combat the beast?

yep, emeraldcrabs, sally lightfoots, and scarlet hermits do fine
sea hares (little too big for a 24G) and lettuce nutibranches
and pincusion urchins and a few stars

im not sure what your fish stocking intends to be but lawnmower blennies, and hector's/rainsford gobies are good too

Ok, this is want I want to eventually stock it with in terms of fish and inverts, not coral. Please state any problems.

1-Blue spotted jawfish( I have 3 " of sand in tank)
1-Mated pair of clowns
Any more fish or is this already to much?

For inverts:Rose Bubble tip anenome(problems with coral?)
Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
Assorted hermits and Snails
Orange Linkia Star(how hard are they?)
Flame Scallop(Too hard?)

the fish are fine.. you could add 1-2 other small fish if you REALLY wanted to

inverts:
nem- fine but i'd add it first and let it pick it's own spot before the other corals get in the tank
shrimp- fine
hermits/snails- fine
linkia- get's a little too big really only recomend for larger tanks with more rock
scallop- isn't HARD persay.. but is a lot of work.. lots of feedings

Well Im going to get some hair algae eaters next week. Since I live 1 hr20 min away from my lfs(no others) and have no car(Im 15 anyway, 1 more year) this is the soonest I can get. The hair algae is covering my coraline algae ahh!!. Also my hitchhiked mushroom seems to have duplicated? There is a small one next to it now. Do you know y? My readings are sg:1.025, Ammonia, about.25, ph. 8.3
Comments?
Thx

Don't worry about the hair algae; There will be a large amount of algae growth at the start. My tank sometimes gets so full of algae its crazy. What I do is just reach in and pull it out. And your tank probably will have a lot of algae cause the tanks run hot.

Oh and my stock list is a few soft corals. A bubble tip Anemone, a Tomato clownfish, a pink skunk clownfish, a flame hawkfish, a purrple back dottyback and coming soon a sally lightfoot crab and a yellow tail damsel to add a differnt color to the tank.

Heres what I asked my mom to pick up from our lfs(it was on her way back from a work related thing). 10 hermit crabs(red, blue or scarlet)
6-Turbo Snails
3- nassarius snails
Feather Dusters
Cleaner Shrimp
2-Peppermint Shrimp.

Heres what she could find(and got):no hermits,1 turbo snail,3 nassarius snails, a few small featherdusters, no cleaner shrimp, and 2 peppermint shrimp. These and a digital thermometer cost me $65. Thats how sad my lfss are.

I can buy a DIY Scavenger Pack from www.liveaquaria.com, if u get more than $80, its free shipping? It cold up here, in the 30-50s. Is this safe?

When I had my old sw tank, I bought some live sand from the internet and it come with some snails, they were in a little plastic baggie with a tiny bit of water and they survived fine. This was also in the winter.

any1, maybe I shoul dhave put in new post.
